Today's trip? $180. Even the 2 huge jugs of olive oil cannot account for this bill for a pretty typical grocery trip, which is usually $60-80. I was floored.
I haven't noticed, but I bought a whole wheat roll at a local coffee place. That and a small latte? $6.05. I was like, WTF, how much was that roll?! I was thinking like a side roll that you get charged .50 for; no, it was like $2.50. For.a.roll. Yea, they lost my business.
I have noticed eating out is more expensive, at least at chain places.
I'm finding it harder & harder to stick to our monthly grocery budget, which I think is sort of generous. $600 for a family of four, and we spend 60%+ of the budget on produce, buy very few premade things, etc.
I think so. I've been spending about 50% more vs a year ago recently. Although DS2 is eating more, esp fresh fruit & meat, which are expensive. We are trying to eat healthier too.
My budget for the week is around $100, I try and stay around there. Typically, I can do it on $80-90. Last 4 weeks I spent $100-110 and got nothing out of the ordinary.
There was a news story on our local news recently that grocery prices would be skyrocketing in 2012. My last 2 grocery runs have been surprisingly expensive as well.
I've noticed OJ has gotten WAY more expensive. My grocery bill has gotten progressively more in the past year, but then again, my youngest is now 2.5 and eats more, and Ava does as well. Funny thing is, I don't even really buy much for MH, bc he's a veg. and buys all his own stuff in the organic section each day. I spend a $100 easy just for the 3 of us. But honestly, the organic milk, eggs and meat is pricey.
I don't pay too much attention to individual prices of things, but I do pay attention to the final bill which is at least $100 more every 2 weeks than it was last year.
I have noticed. I have felt sick with the amount of money we're spending on groceries. The month of January we kept really good track of what we spent, and it's easily $200 more than we want to be spending.
I'm not sure how to make it lower. We use coupons, but I've never saved more than ten bucks : (

Christmas 2011
I spent $160 this week. Only food - no toiletries, diapers or the like.
Then I had to go again yesterday and get a couple more things.
It's crazy.
Absolutely, even in the past month for us.

I noticed grapes got really expensive. Once, I paid almost 8 dollars for a bag of non-organic.
I spent $110 last week on a "small trip."
