DH and I originally decided if the next baby were a girl we would be done since we'd have one of each gender but now I'm not sure. I'd ideally love to have 3, regardless of gender. What about all of you?
I had always thought 2-3. We're currently TTC #2, and we've both pretty much agreed that #2 will be it for us. Practicality and money win out for us.
With two you can:
Divide and conquer - one parent per one child.
Fit in a standard car without siblings "touching."
Fit in a standard hotel room without "extras."
Pair up for rides/games/chores/whatever without things being uneven or someobody feeling left out.
(I know some of these don't really apply until the children are older, but that is still a consideration for us.)
I see all the advantages to two, but that may be because we've pretty much made our decision and I'm trying to see it in the best light possible. Good luck!
I'd like to have one more after this baby. But DH is pretty sure he wants to be done after baby girl arrives.
This is my DH, we are starting to TTC this month and he keeps saying if this one is a girl he wants to be done, I'm hoping I feel the same way after the next baby!

My DH said this as well. Once we found out it was a girl he just said "well we're done". I'm a young mom and I told him at my age I could not say I was done having children. I don't even know if I'll want another after she's born, but I was happy that he agreed to discuss it again in a few years. I was so not ok with completely saying I'm done at my age.

I would like one more, sooner rather than later. I didn't realize how difficult that was going to be for me to achieve, so I wish we would've started trying sooner.

We're in the same situation, I am about to be 22 and DH is 23 so I feel like closing the door to more kids is really pre-mature. He keeps saying we can re -discuss once the next baby is born.

That's a good idea. I will be 24 shortly after baby is born and DH is only 27. I told him we have time. We know IF we want another, we want to wait at least 2 years, so we'll discuss it later. But I'm happy that my ute is not completely shut down after the baby comes.

PPD/PPA Mom...it has been super hard, but I'm making it! Slow steps... Mom to Carter (6), and Calianne (1). Proud VBAC, natural birth, breastfeeding, cloth diapering momma!

Yeah, we ideally want DS and the next baby about 2.5 years apart and if we go for three then the next two 3-4 years apart, we will see Good luck with your baby girl! What are you naming her?
I originally thought ONE AND DONE, but now I realize I just didn't want another baby with my ex (DD's father.) SO and I are going to try for another once I finish school and DD is in Kindergarden in about 3 years. SO also wants to consider adopting a baby too, but it depends on finances and other things. That won't be for another 5+ years.
we had always said two but had spontaneous twins. I kinda feel like I would like to experience another pregnancy (and another year off !). I would also love to experience a singleton baby. However I am scared of #3 becoming 3&4.
Having said that...all the other stuff pp say about being a family of four is more convenient. Also I have a boy and a girl....so 2 and through is probably the way to go for us.
I could probably talk DH into a third...I mean our kiddos are pretty cute! so I might wait to see if I get the 'itch' when they are 4 or 5.
I want 3 but DH wants to stop. He's not completely opposed to 3 but I think he'd be happy with just the 2 girls. Sometimes I feel the same way (like last night when both were crying while I was cutting raw chicken!) lol
I always wanted 4 and DH was open to that, but then I was dx with the blood clotting disorder and have very high risk pregnancies that make me absolutely miserable so 2 will be it for us.

DH wants 3 or 4. For me, ideally 3-4, but I am worried about having more than 2. For some reason, no matter how financial secure we are right now, the thought of more than 2 kids seems incredibly expensive to me. I'm not exactly sure why (besides 3x college and weddings, etc).

2. Unless TTC #2 takes too long, then I will consider being one and done. I don't want them to be too far apart, and we are older already. I think I could feel done with just one if the time comes.
Re: Ideally, how many kids do you want?
In a perfect world, 2 or 3, but I am one and done.
Ideally we would like a big family 4-5.
Realistically 3, but would be done at 2 if the next one is a boy.

Two would be ideal for us. I thought we would be adopting the second, but things did not go as planned, so we will start TTC later this year.
