Chance is doing pretty good. We are now just waiting for him to be mature enough to take a bottle. He doesn't get the concept that he has to suck, swallow and breath at the same time. Hopefully by next week he will be able to take a bottle so we can mark that off the check list that needs completed before he can be discharged. I'm so ready to be home, in my own bed, and cuddling with my son on the couch. On a better now, one of the nurses pulled Chance's NG tube out for us (it needed replaced anyways) and let us take pictures of him without his tube. I was sooo excited! Here are a few pics He is now 3lbs 6oz!
Re: New pics of Chance Bryant :)
He is TOO cute! :-) So glad he is doing well!
Thanks so much! He is definitely a keeper
He looks so big in these pics, but he swims in his preemie clothes... heres a pic to show how small he is, don't mind me, my face is swollen from all the water I retained after my c-section
I was thinking about you guys yesterday wondering how things are going.
Love the new pictures! He's is simply adorable! He'll get to where he's supposed to be, it might just take time. He'll get there.

I was showing DH the pictures and I told him how much Chance weighs and he said "that's about how big Chase is right now." It's hard to fathom for me. I don't feel big enough to have a 3 1/2 lb baby inside of me.

awww, he's such a little peanut!! he is growing so well and getting strong! you also look great, mama!
Awww, Chance is too cute.
Congrats!
He looks like a normal sized baby in the pics but trust me girls, i'm 5'2" and have small hands, he is not even the length of two of my hands...it's very overwelming when people actually see him in person bc he looks normal sized in pics.his legs do not stretch to the end of the outfits...i wish i could put a full term baby beside him and take a picture bc you'd see the comparison... however, after he was born i couldn't imagine how much he could do on his own...i didn't know that i had such a beautiful baby in me that could live and breath on the outside, at only 31 weeks...such a weird experience.. u will understand when your little ones come.. i'm sure it is weird for you guys to think that your babies can cry, suck, breath, grunt, smile, poop, and pee at this point lol..it's amazing and i can't wait to see pics of everyones babies
I love the name Nolan!! I am proud of him gaining weight and learning to do new things like cry (he used to squeel), suck on a pacifier, and smile... it's amazing... is your little guy eating from a bottle yet? Chance is having the hardest time with it....we put the bottle in his mouth, he sucks on it, and then realizes he has liquid in his mouth, he usually stops breathing bc he gets confused, and then he spits it out...i'm assuming that he thinks it's a pacifier and then realizes it's not, so he freaks out when milk gets in his mouth... although he does okay nursing, when he stays awake long enough to do it lol...good luck to you as well! I hope ur little man is doing good!
Also, I don't know if your hospital promotes this, but the hospital we are at is really big on skin to skin therapy. They call it kangaroo care. You can google it to find out more info about it but there are numerous studies showing that parents who do the kangaroo care daily or more for atleast 1 hr at a time, have babies who progress faster, get discharged sooner, have better oxygen levels and have a more normal heart rate. My husband used to joke and say that I only do the kangaroo care because I get to hold him for a long time, but now he realizes that it really does work. It is pretty much the only time that Chance's oxygen, heart rate, and respiratory rate are perfect. Look it up if you are interested. All you do is simply undress your baby and you put a hospital gown on and you hold your baby on your chest so you guys are skin to skin and then you wrap the gown or a blanket over top of him to stay warm and snuggled. It is great bonding and it helps the baby feel closer to you and more secure. Your husband can do it as well. My husband chooses not too bc he isn't one to let his chest hang out and have his son lay on him in a hospital with a bunch of girl nurses, but that's okay because I like having that time for just Chance and I. Hope this helps
Perfect. He's just a perfect baby. So glad he's thriving and can't wait for him to get the hang of a bottle!

Ohmigosh! That hair is just too adorable! He looks so fuzzy and cuddly!
I still can't fathom how a baby that size is just chilling inside of all of us. It boggles my mind.
