yes, it is fairly common. common enough that some ob's dont even bother with the screen anymore because there are too many "false positives".
with my first pregnancy i failed the screen and passed the 3 hour test with flying colors. not even close to failing. good luck...its a pain..make sure you have something nearby that you can eat right after you finish the 3 hours.
I failed my 1hr and passed my 3 hr. I was not happy about it but I passed the 3 hr and that made all the difference. I have to repeat at 28 weeks which blows but atleast I know what to expect.
I failed my 1 hour and just took the 3 hour today. It was boring, but not really too bad. I am not sure yet if I passed or not. Good luck to you!

My OB said something like 20-25% of people fail the 1 hour, but less than 5% fail the 3 hour.
Make sure you take something like a protein bar with you to eat right after you're done with the test. I got really sick just from the 1 hour, so am incredibly grateful that I don't have to do the 3 hour.
Thank you everyone. I was just shocked I failed the test. I really hope that I pass the 3 hour test. It runs in my family so I won't really be suprised either way.

The first time I took the 1-hour at 13 weeks (since I have PCOS my OB wanted to screen me early) I passed with flying colors. I failed the 1-hour by 2 points when I had to retake it in the hospital, but I passed the 3 hour. I will have to take the 1-hour AGAIN at 28 weeks. GL!
