My mom and I are hosting a baby shower for my brother and his fiance. I'm suposed to send out the invitations and can't for the life of me figure out how to word it. My mom is trying to get out it being a shower as much as possible because she hates them and we're honestly not that close to FSIL. The party is set to be a couples party with a New Orleans kind of theme. People should bring gifts but not wrapped, so they can be displayed. (Mom's idea) Any help?

Love this idea - and I'm not one to care too much about saving trees! Love the style of the shower. I honestly hate sitting around and watching people open gifts. I think its awkward and you know the men of the couples would hate it anyway!

For a New Orleans themed shower, I would likely say something like "Lassiez les bon temps rouler (Let the good times roll) and join us to celebrate blah blah blah."
Are you having New Orleans themed food? You could always mention that, like join us for gumbo and good times. Sorry I'm not super creative. Plus, New Orleans makes me think of partying, so everything I would say would likely not be appropriate for a baby shower
The shower I hosted, the girl did not want to sit around and open the gifts in front of everyone, so she asked her guests to bring them unwrapped. It's untraditional, but it did make the shower more fun.
That being said, I'm very traditional and don't think I'd ever ask people to bring my gifts, unwrapped.

I'm very traditional too and writing this invite is making me cringe! Thanks for the wording about saving a tree. That makes it look less tacky! It's mostly just family that is invited as they are having a separate shower for friends. I wish we weren't doing it at all! But yes, it will be all New Orleans foods, and it will be fun in the end hopefully
