Birthday Party Planning Vent

So why does figuring out the favor to give to the other children end up being MORE stressful than the actual party planning itself?  I spend way too much time and energy thinking about this.  That is all, vent over :)

  • Go to party city - get one candy (mini bag of m&m's or lollipop), small thing of crayons and some annoying piece of crap (sunglasses, whistle, bracelet) per kid; END OF STORY

  • I'm going the food route - cupcakes and a frosted sugar cookie in the shape of a "2".  Just needed to vent for a sec, I just detest the whole favor thing.  Don't remember it being such a huge deal when I was a kid.

  • I went to Michaels, from the dollar section I got a coloring book, little box of crayons, some stickers, a 5 pack of little play dough (generic brand) cups, and a little crafty thing like a wood car or pony that came with markers.  I put it all in a $1 gift bag from Target.  Since we had a planes, trains, auto themes I also used some printable magnet paper, some clip art of planes, trucks, cars, boats in Powerpoint, put the kids name on the vehicle, printed it out, cut it and used it to label the bags.  So I think each bag was $6 total.

It wasn't, this is Bump/FB thing and honestly, I can't tell what we've received at 90% of the parties we've been to.  And, I know DD is happy w/ whatever.

  • Check out the dollar section at Target. I found books and crayons there for A's party.

  • I remember goodie bags from when I was a kid. But it was just a bag with some candy and/or cheap toys or something. The cookies and cupcakes and stuff...I'm sure I never got anything like that!

  • Dollar Tree also has good stuff.  Especially with spring around the corner....sidewalk chalk, bubbles, etc.

I would completely appreciate a food favor vs. a regular goody bag.

I remember getting goody bags from parties, but I definitely did not go to the same amount of b-day parties at this early an age.

My mom and I have talked about how kids' b-day parties are much bigger (in # of guests) now than they were when I was a kid. My mom said that she used to invited a child for every year of my and my brother's age. That way the parties were always "drop-offs" and not huge adult/whole family affairs.
