How organized are your cupboards/closets/drawers?

I feel like I will make a gallant effort to clean say our coat closet or the tupperware cupboard then slowwllyyyy (or not so slowly) it just gets all messed up again. It is so easy in the craziness of day to day life to throw things in and shut the door just to get clutter off of counters/floors etc.  Out of sight out of mind lol.  I am so jealous when I see my moms perfectly organized cupboards and drawers.  (Yes I am weird!)

  • My cupboards are beautiful. But that is because I have glass doors.

My closets?  I can shut these and no one needs to know what lurks behind the doors you can't see through.

  • Not very organized.  Like you, I get one thing organized and then over time it gets out of control again.  I took a week off of work last March just before we put our house on the market.  Every cabinet and every closet was the picture of perfection.  It was so nice.  During the six months the house was on the market we did a pretty good job of keeping things neat although not as perfect as where we started!  The house didn't sell, we took it off the market and in the four months since then things have gone to sh!t.  Now I have to think about doing it all again to list the house again in the spring!

  • I probably clean out the same closets/cabinets 3x a year cuz they just keep getting out of hand..

Pantry, hall linen closet, extra closet in kitchen that holds brooms and whatnot, tupperware cabinet, cup cabinet (we accumulate so many cups over the year!)

  • Kitchen cupboards are ok, bathroom drawers & cabinets are kind of messy, closets are atrocious.
  • don't ever look in my cabinets when you come over here! lol! I have two cabinets in my kitchen that are organized, they have glass in them, other than that, well, lets just say it's a running joke with the dh, and my family (his don't go in my cupboards for some reason) that there are 2 cabinets in my kitchen you don't open because something may fall on your head! lol! (the kids with the sippy cups and stuff, and my tupperware one). I find though that if I downsize, it's so much easier to keep neat. I mean, do I really need 6 glass pyrex bowls? lol!
  • I've been doing ours a little bit at a time, and am finding that annoying as it is, that old advice about making a place for everything so everything can be in its place is true.  If something keeps getting all messy, I'm trying to figure out why that is and make it easier to keep it neat, whether that's making a more convenient place for it (i.e. I now put the girls' socks and shoes in canvas bins in the laundry room, which is adjacent to the garage and the way we always leave the house...we're way less likely to have shoes laying around the house or to be going back into the bedrooms to get socks every day) or decluttering so it's easier to fit stuff in its place.  The blog I Heart Organizing has really inspired me to make things look prettier, because I can see how even lame stuff like doing laundry or making breakfast feels a little nicer and fancier when it's done in a pretty environment.  She's way more organized and into it than I'll ever be, but it gives me something to shoot for!
  • Mine are very organized. I do clean often and declutter when I can.  My spare bedroom. . . that's another story!
