June 2012 Moms

I find it weird/annoying...

when people who virtually never post here give us their "It's a..." or "We decided on names" posts.

I'm sorry if this makes me a horrid ***, but If you don't make an effort to be part of the community then don't expect us to give a d@mn what sex your baby is or what their name is. Well, unless you come up with a really ridiculous name...I will still take time out of my day to make fun of it .

Re: I find it weird/annoying...

  • I feel the same way! In fact, that was one of my FFFCs this week :)

  • I agree about the boy/ girl posts, but I actually like the name posts (maybe because I'm still looking for inspiration.)  Although I will admit that some of the names posted leave me with a "wtf" impression, for sure.

  • This is funny! If it's a name I've never even seen before, I definitely don't even bother clicking.
  • I think it's weird too. It's even weirder when they not only don't post on this board, but they apparently don't post on any other boards either.....

  • Am I considered a regular poster? I wonder if maybe I just think I am because I read everything. :)

I think you are a regular.

And for me, I don't care if you're not a regular, but if you have less than 10 posts and are just posting to tell us the sex, that's annoying.

  • I agree with this. I find myself feeling bad when I don't even read the announcement posts from people I've never heard of, who only have like, 15 posts. I just don't have anything personally invested in them! I've never had a conversation with them, or had advice given to me by them, and vice versa.

Oh well! By this time in our pregnancies, I figure its pretty normal to have a regular, tight knit group of ladies on the BM boards.  Smile

  • I am wondering if it was me that sparked this. I am pretty new to the bump which means I don't have many posts. Since I found TB a couple weeks ago, I have spent a lot of time on here. I try to join in when I have something to say.

    Thanks, Kate...and I agree.

  • Same. I can only post on weekends because of work and sometimes I'll have the energy to after work, but it's weird to me when someone has a total of 3 posts and makes an announcement.

  • I agree with the boy/girl post. I don't post much so I wouldn't even do that. The name doesnkt bother me if their asking for an opinion.

I'm with you... I don't post as much as others but I would hope someone would have more to contribute than the gender of their baby.

  • I can understand if you just found the the group but if you joined in October and are only now posting about  "It's a ..." I get very irritated.  I try to comment on the ladies I recognize because I was very happy when others commented on mine.

On that note I have also heard some crazy a$$ names lately.  One I was sure had to be a joke but I did not comment.  When it comes to names I've learned to keep your mouth shut unless you like it.  But seriously? Come on people!

  • Some ladies just don't have the time to post thousands and thousands of posts. Because of long hours at work, taking care of a house, etc. I love to pop on here to read advice and posts as much as I can, but can't always post anything. I think it is nice to feel welcomed no matter what you say or don't say... I think that is what these boards are for.

  • All I can say is....wow. Really? This is what bothers people? Waaay too much time on your hands. Why not just ignore the posts?
  • I think all boy/girl posts are boring. I rarely open them.

Somedays I log in and I swear to god 3/4 of the board is "Its a..."

At least we are past that now for the most part.

And I finally get to find out tomorrow. Yay!

  • I like the name posts, although I feel guilty when the names are so far from my taste that I just need to back out and pretend like I never read that one.  I'm disturbed more by the posts that could be answered my google or should be answered by one's doctor.

I saw a post the other day on one of the mommy groups I'm a member of on Facebook talking about how her child had just ingested something she thought may be poisonous and wanted to get opinions on whether or not she should call poison control!!!  I was like OMGWTF!!!  Seriously??  If my child ingests something potentially poisonous the LAST thing on my list of things to do is ask the opinion of people on Facebook (while my child potentially dies waiting on medical treatment).

  • I ignore all of the "It's a..." posts. If I want to know what you're having, I'll just check your siggy/ticker. It's too late for this now, but maybe we should've done a daily ultrasound check in (posts your results in there) to cut back on the clutter. But then again, people would ignore that and AW like they do with HDBD.

You were on the boards when you were pregnant the first time, right? I think I remember your SN. Remember Bridetobe(bunch of numbers). The one who had to poll the board at least 7 times over every tiny decision she had to make?

  • But I will confess that I like the "it's a...." posts. Mostly because I sit and guess first then click on it to see if I"m right. I get bummed when someone spoils it for me in the post title.

This is coming from the girl who watches random strangers gender reveal party videos on YouTube so take that for what it's worth ;-)

Yes! I much prefer the "it's a boy/girl" posts to the "I finally pooped" posts some ladies feel the need to share!

  • Hmm...am I regular enough to share my news when I find out on Thursday??  I read a lot and comment here and there...but if something already has 25 responses, I don't feel the need to repeat what people have already said.  I have created a few posts but not many....basically....I feel like I am part of this board, but not sure if anyone actually knows who I am!
  • I think if that's all someone wants to post, let them. Who cares? I guess I don't see why its so bothersome. They are excited and in some cases are waiting to tell family, so they come here to spill the beans. If I don't want to read their "its a... Or team...." Post, I just don't open it.

Agreed.  Not everyone is going to be on this site posting every day.  I'm a lurker on this board now (adjusted due date July 2, 2012), but there's a good chance that come spring time I'll be back.  Will I be allowed to post then?

Also, I've noticed that when people first start posting about a particular subject it's okay, until it gets old and then suddenly it's taboo (ex. first ultrasounds, NT scans, etc.).  It kind of ruins it for the ladies with due dates closer to the end of the month who also want to share their news and are being told they should be sticking to a weekly check-in.

Just the opinion of a dirty lurker, take from it what you will Wink

Thank you ladies.  At first this post hurt my feelings.  Then I though I must be crazy to be upset by the opinion of a few people.  I don't read every post, and if you don't want to read mine, don't.

When I first found this board I was so excited.  It really is very helpful.  If only people could take their snarky comments and keep them to themselves or share them with their SO.

I agree.  And there are certainly people who just post a whole lot of complete and utter nonsense just to be posting.  About ANYTHING.  Me, I don't mind giving my opinion to a newbie or anyone else, lol.  I'm happy to share.  ;-)
