Breastfeeding

Pumping Question

I've been pumping every 2-4 hours (usually around the 2 to 3 hours point) around the clock and nursing the babies at night. I've noticed that I only produce about half the milk in my left breast compared to my right breast. Is that normal? Also, if anyone can give me some tips on how to up my production that would be great! I'm getting about 50ml a pumping max, which would be perfect for one baby, but not enough for two, so I've been supplementing with formula. I was thinking about picking up some fenugreek (sp?) this week and giving that a try.

Re: Pumping Question

  • Are you nursing during the day or just night? Nursing stimulates more milk and they can drain a breast better than the pump o they are probably getting more than what you can pump.

  • I also have one breast that produces like double the amount of the other.
