15 month LO- food ideas...?

my 15 month old is becoming a picky eater! I actually think its a combination of that and being tired of what I am feeding him....

What do you all feed your LO's? I am trying to get new ideas! All suggestions welcome...!

  • ***Let me just add that he currently is boycotting the spoon and/or anything like that.... he only wants to independently feed himself...so I am trying to come up with finger food meals that he can feed himself...

  • At 15 months from what I can remember DD loved mostaccoli from our local pizza place, yogurt and fruit, Gerber Graduates cheddar flavored little crunchies and I don't remember what else. She turns 2 tomorrow so its been awhile since she was that little! Sorry I couldn't be of more help! GL!
  • grilled chese sandwich

    mac & cheese

    pancakes/waffles

    meatballs

    any noodles & sauce

    quasedillas

    fruit/veggies

    pizza (DS LOVES pizza!!)

    refried beans on toast

potato cut into thick fries (sweet potato also)- with ketsup  :)

  • My LO is 12 months but she loves finger foods and basically eats what we are eating.  She had pizza last night for dinner, she loves meatloaf, muffins, pasta salads, spaghetti, lasagna, stews, any meat and veggie (tonight we are having breaded fish, mashed potatoes, and asparagus).

Basically, whatever is on our plates for lunch/dinner is on her plate.  For breakfast we both had a veggie/cheese omelette today and yesterday I made french toast for the family.

  • DD loves mashed potatoes, fruit, cheese and yogurt. She will always eat those things.

She also likes most of the time: pancakes, waffles, toast with PB, scrambled eggs, most veggies, pasta with sauce, meat, sweet potatoes, squash. She will eat almost anything-except when she will only eat fruit, cheese and yogurt.

  • Micah used to be such a good eater--he'd eat anything we gave him. But the past couple weeks he's started to turn things away--even things that he used to love.  I know it's just a phase--he's exerting his independence so I try to still offer him whatever we're eating, but I also make sure to have at least one thing that I *know* he'll eat.  So far he's still eating:

    any kind of pasta

    pizza (even English muffin pizzas)

    chicken nuggets

    grilled cheese

    cheese and crackers

    toast with jelly

    oatmeal

    yogurt

    pancakes/waffles

    applesauce, grapes, berries, bananas

    Hope that helps!

  • AWESOME! Thanks so much ladies! I used quite a few of your suggestions and made a list, we are actually headed to the store this afternoon and now I am excited :) Thanks again for your help!!

  • Greek yogurt is thick enough he can feed himself. It's messy, but they have to learn sometime. Hummus is good, too. Raw veggies are good, roasted veggies, orange slices, hard-bolied eggs, tuna, salmon (canned or fresh cooked), deli meat, toasted cheese, soups (I usually drain most of the broth off)...usually DS2 eats whatever the rest of us are eating! hth

Can he feed himself with a spoon or fork? At 15 months, DD2 was insisting that she only eat with silverware. She wouldn't touch her food until I gave her a fork.

We do a lot of fruits here... whatever is in season at the grocery store. DD loves carrots and bell peppers. She also loves frozen peas or corn when she's teething. Other veggies... cucumbers, broccoli, zucchini, mixed veggies.

String cheese, yogurt (thicker is easier for her), black beans mixed with rice (I suppose that's not a finger food), refried beans on a tortilla, quesadillas, grilled cheese, sandwiches, pasta, pizza, sweet potato fries, chicken, fish (she loves salmon)...

  • My little guy has picky moments, but one thing he likes to feed himself is avocado. A little messy but I just cut up pieces and he can do it himself. Also, peaches and mandarin orange slices in those litte cups in water.
