Opinions/Ideas Needed

Hi, I lurk more than anything, and must say, I have never felt more of a bond with a bunch of people I have never met before in my life!  This board has helped me thru my entire pregnancy and has also helped my sanity throughout the past almost 4 months since baby.  I first want to say thank you to all of the ladies who spend their time posting about some of the things in their lives as well as generally calling people out on their ridiculousness.  It has helped me immensely and I have a special place in my heart for all of you. Now, enough fluff and rainbows..I do have an actual point to this post.

We are having our daughters baptism at the end of February, and I have been searching all over pinterest and  other sites for ideas for little favors for our guests. I have a very large family and the most people we will have is 90.  Right now the only idea I have is to do S'mores Kits for everyone with favor tags that say like, "S'more thanks for sharing my big day."  I am not completely sold on that, but that is all I have right now.  I was just wondering if anyone had any other ideas or a better quote for tags.  I am crafty and do plan on making the favor.  Any ideas or even 2 cents would be extremely helpful!

 Thanks in advance,

Michelle

  • What about a framed picture with a quote or verse?

  • Maybe this won't help you, but I've been to many baptisms, and have never gotten a favor (or expected one). In fact, I'd be pretty surprised TO receive one. So really, I'm not sure if this is something you NEED to add to your to-do list. But if baptism favors are the norm in your circle, I'd keep it as simple and cheap as possible, because let's be honest, probably 70% of them are just going to be thrown out anyway. What about personalized M&M's or Hershey bars? Haha those probably stand the best chance of getting "used".
July 20th, 2012: Never forget the day the fb douchebags tried so hard, but ultimately failed. Viva la October 2011! Yeah, I called you douchebags.

This. Just create a label for the Hersey bar that reads, "It was sweet of you to share in our baby's Baptism.". Simple, easy, and yummy!  You can get the large bars at Sams club or Costco.

I agree with this.  I've never been to a baptism with favors and think that most favors that are trinkets generally get thrown out.  As other posters have suggested, something edible is good if you reallly feel you have to make something.  I've been to house parties before where they've given out a few cookies in a little cellophane bag with a note on it thanking us for coming.  It also had the recipe attached which was sweet.  You could do them in the shape of a cross to make it baptism-ish.

If you don't want to bake or do the chocolate as suggested by PPs, you could do a little honey jar or lollipop that says "Sweet of you to be a part of LO's baptism".

Or...haha...I can't imagine they actually make these so you'd have to do it, but you could make a candy rosary.  Sort of like candy necklaces..but in the form of rosary beads.  At least the kids attending the baptism would enjoy that.

  • I totally get where you are coming from..it sounds like something I would do.  But in my case I would think of something too elaborate and wouldn't be able to complete it and feel bummed, lol!  I agree with previous posters that you should do something simple that your guests would enjoy.  I like the idea of a treat, but maybe something more simple so your guests could snack on a treat on the ride home, etc.  For favors I love the idea of decorated sugar cookies in a cello bag, or even your families favorite cookie.  Make a cute tag and tie with a ribbon and boom..guests love cookies...well maybe I'm biased cause I own a bakery..but probably not ;-)

  • Thanks for the suggestions!! I think I may  mix some together and do a bit of a to-go bar for everyone.  Most of our guests are coming from out of town, so a snack for the way home would be nice..I am secretly wishing I had the time to make candy rosarys, just for the "o no she didnt" factor! Thanks again!
