Daycare Recommendations South Bay - N. Redondo/Manhattan Beach/Hermosa

Please respond if you have a recommendation for a GREAT daycare in the South Bay area, preferably North Redondo, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach area.

Thank you!

  • I've heard good things about Beach Babies.  Also. Manhattan Academy has opened up an infant care program.  My daughter started in their toddler program in 2008.

  • Hi, I've had my baby at Beach Babies since he was 4 months old (he's almost 9months now). I like the daycare. It's clean (except for the fact that all the babies have runny noses and they never wipe it off unless the kid's parents show up), the daily reports show that they are keeping him on my requested schedule, and he is safe. Basically - all the basics are taken care of. Unfortunately, for ~$1,700.00 I want more than just the basics.

I have been disappointed in the lack of "enthusiasm" I've seen from the caretakers towards the children. I always see them watching the babies and making sure they stay safe and fed and dry - but I've only seen them interact with a baby a handful of times. I just think for the cost, the place should be amazing on all levels.

On another note, I'm EXTREMELY un-impressed with what I have seen in Beach Babies' preschool program. So I decided awhile ago that we wouldn't keep our baby there for the long term.

So in about a month we are switching over to Manhattan Academy. I have a friend at my Mommy & Me class who highly recommended the infant program. They are growing, so fortunately for us they have immediate openings. During my visit, there was always at least one caretaker just sitting with the babies and interacting with them. And not just one at a time, but she had 4 babies around her. The other 3 ladies were buzzing around - cleaning up, feeding a baby, and changing a diaper. It was just nice to see at least someone sitting down to play.

I mean if I wanted my baby to entertain himself while someone ran around and did errands, I would just hire a housekeeper/babysitter like all the other moms in the south bay. I went with the daycare option because I wanted someone's sole responsibility to be focused on developing my child in the same manner that I would do if I was home full-time. From what I've observed, Beach Babies fell a little short and I'm hoping Manhattan Academy meets my standards.

     So there's my two-cents. Good luck ;)
