  • Holy crap does she think she's moving into the hospital permanently?

  • We didn't even have time to bring in our bags (we thought hubby could go back and grab them later - but baby had other/faster plans). Cate entered into the world - no camera in sight...........wouldn't that just KILL Selfie! ;-)

  • Are you flucking kidding me?!?  This woman is insane.

I took a bag that had a few pairs of PJs, one night "gown", two towels, my hubs' swim trunks and some chapstick, and my camera.

Oh, and mine and my husband's pillows (one each).

litterally, one bag, two pillows.  I let the hospital provide me everything else I needed!

    she's crazy...

  • I like how how she is bringing "cheap target underwear for during delivery..." doesn't she realize he can't wear those during delivery. And seriously like 5 outfits for the baby?! Oh selfie!

  • An inflatable mattress for her husband to sleep on?!
    Lilypie Second Birthday tickers
  • She probably won't be allowed to wear the fuzzy socks since they are nonslip, her postpartum shoes probably won't fit due to edema, shes going to need way more diapers than that, her small pads are not going to work well....

It's okay though. Is she over the top? Completely. But as a first time new mom she's making the best guess at what she will need....just like we all did.

  • Her nurses are going to die and be highly annoyed when "hubby" breaks out a tarp and air mattress.   They will be the talk of L&D.  That is for sure!

She's so not wearing that home.

I had a pretty easy labor - honestly, my boobs were way more sore from my milk coming in than I was down below from pushing a baby out, and it never would've entered my head to wear something like that.  Who thinks like that when they're in the hospital?  I can't even remember what I wore home.  Yoga pants, I'm sure.

  • I can picture her holding the remote for her camera while giving birth and in between pushes look up and smile. She will have her husband redo her make up so she will look fabulous. I thought I had brought a lot to the hospital... who thinks about dressing their baby as soon as baby is born? I have no idea why she is bringing her own pads. You are already paying for the hospital to give them to you. I guess they are organic.

Oh Selfie, this should be interesting.

I do bring my own pads...but that is because I can not stand the hospital ones after the first day or so, however, that being said...I bring a small suitcase, two pillows, a boppy (because of csection), and a coming home outfit for baby.  That is it...send the dad home at night or let him sleep on the dad couch geez.

  • she is obsessed with organic baby clothing.  if my h had tried to inflate an air mattress in our hospital room, i'm pretty sure the nurses would have flipped.

  • Is there even room in a hospital room for an inflatable air mattress?  There sure wasn't in ours.

  • We brought one suitcase with what I thought we needed and still didn't use most of the crap. I didn't even get out of my hospital gown the whole first day.

I love the comments. People were telling her she won't need her underwear in her delivery bag and she's like "So you just lie there and bleed? I don't get where the blood will be going for the first hour before you put pads and panties on."  Too cute. I think it wouldn't be so funny if she didn't make a big show of doing so much research on everything. You'd think she'd have concluded that after you expel a live human from your body you bleed a LOT. lol

I'm glad people commented on her not wanting to use CDs right away until the meconium passes. I can't imagine that disgusting crap on CDs.

  • Unless she has a 10-12 lb baby, those one-size cloth diapers aren't going to fit, either.

Her bags are hilarious. You know what, though? I bet she'll prove us all wrong and find a way to use every single thing in those bags, PLUS, she'll wear that ridiculous dress home, come hell or high water.

  • Even jay z probably slept on the fvckin hospital couch. Oh to be a fly on the wall in the nurses station when those two come in...
  • I am slightly concerned though.  What if things don't go as planned, like she has to have a csection or something.  I hope that she is able to respond okay to it.  She has planned this pregnancy to such a degree it is almost out of control.  I hope everything goes according to her plans and she is able to use everything or she may not be able to handle it....wait till the baby comes home and doesn't conform to schedules or any of her ideas of how it should work.

  • Man, my hospital must have been the Ritz. They had birthing balls of their own AND a place for DH to sleep in my room. (They also had johnnies and socks for me to wear, pads, and disposable underwear.)

  • I would love to see the nurses' face when she starts blowing up her own birthing ball.

And number one sign she has no clue: "babies don't poop much the first 2 days." Right, let me know how that works out for you.

I can't wait to see her birth story. I bet it includes rainbows and glitter farts.

  • Some of that stuff is crazy, BUT...I took a ton of stuff to the hospital (one baby bag with a couple different size outfits and one bag for me with the usual stuff). I was there for 4 days and I wanted to be prepared. I actually wish I had brought more stuff though, like a variety of clothing since none of my maternity clothes fit, a post-partum nursing gown, a robe, my own pillows, and my pump. I had to send my husband home to get some very specific things and it would have been a lot easier to just bring it in the first place. And she isn't planning on bringing it all in the hospital at the same time, so who cares?

However, spending $28 on a disposable delivery gown and $75+ on a "designer" hospital gown is just crazycakes. Oh, and the organic blanket to cover the baby right after it's born? Why waste a spendy blanket on something that gross? That's what the cheapo hospital blankets are for. I'm sure that spending 10 minutes covered in a nonorganic material will not kill that poor kid.

I can't imagine that she's the type of person who will clean cloth diapers.  Ever.

My guess is they will go in the garbage.

Well, her mom is here for 4 months so she'll probably get the worst of it as far as runny BF poop and all. I have a feeling she'll be doing the cooking/cleaning/laundry so Selfie can have the luxury of just focusing on the baby and not having to worry about the other stuff that most new moms have to. I don't CD but I imagine once the poops become more solid they're easier to clean on a regular basis?

  • imagebethy84:

Actually, BFed poop is water soluble, so it can just be thrown in the wash.  Once they're on solids, you have to dunk or spray the poop off first.

You just throw all the poop right in the machine without rinsing it?

Exclusively BF poop, yes. It was so much easier before he was eating solids.

Nice. I was thinking it was like when DS would leak and I'd have to rinse and pre-treat the onesie so it would come out. lol

Here's the thing. Remember before we had babies? All of the shiit she has packed would have probably made sense to us, too. After they check out of the hospital they are going to realize how dumb half of that crap was but, eh, I kind of get it (at least from that perspective.) I just wonder how long she thinks she needs to stay in the hospital (if she's having a vaginal birth) based on this, "Wet diaper bag to store dirty diapers in until my mom can take it home to wash."

I am SUPER jealous she still has those gold flats. I had a pair of black ones and they were my most favorite shoes ever.

    The end.

Everything EXCEPT the air mattress. Ole creepy eyes thinks he's too good to sleep on the couch like every other dad in the world. I just keep laughing at the thought of him spreading a tarp out on the floor.

LOL I missed the tarp the first time around.

Looking at the pics again I think some of her labor/delivery underwear is nicer than what's currently in my drawer.

Well, technically, you rinse everything in the washer first, then run your regular wash. But there is no rinsing of individual diapers. I had a bit of staining on my diapers, but the sun took it right out. And if it didn't, oh well, they are designed to catch poop!
