Sitting here watching DD gag as she tries to choke down Gerber diced apples. I simply cannot get her to accept food with any texture. She is almost 11 months and gags if her rice cereal is too chunky. She has to move on but she is having such a hard time. I'm trying to just let her gag and keep trying so that she will get over it. I don't want to force her but she can't eat baby food forever, right?
Re: Chunky Foods, she just won't do it
Avery was very hesitant when it came to textures. She'd gag them right up. Then she just started to want them.
Don't push or "let her gag and keep trying", or she'll just get freaked out by it. She'll eat textures, when she's ready.
exactly DS!!! so frustrating...i don't want to force him either, i feel bad when he's gagging at everything chunky or even throwing up HALF a shred of shredded cheese or a quarter of a puff - don't' get me started on cheerios!
i don't mind making purees but he's gotta start chunks eventually right?
I would try giving her table food. Reading your post and thinking of my own experiences makes me believe that this could be a Gerber issue. Maybe Gerber stuff doesn't taste so great? Because I've given my LO Gerber diced apples and she didn't like them, she gagged. I gave her stage 3 Gerber food and she just spits it out. Yet she can eat any table food that we eat (but of course cut up).
