I'm looking at the IKEA Hemnes furniture for bedrooms and was curious what color your crib was if you purchased the black-brown dressers? It looks pretty brown in the picture so wasn't sure what color everyone went with.
Also, do you use the 8-drawer dresser as a changing station or would a 6 drawer chest work also?
Re: IKEA Moms
My DH has a 6-drawer Hemnes dresser in the black/brown, and I think it looks more black than brown. If I were going to purchase that color for the baby, I'd probably do white with it. It'd be really hard to match it. Also, if we are talking about the same 6-drawer dresser, it's much too high to use as a changing station.
I plan on getting the 8-drawer dresser in white for the babies room.

I agree with the bolded, unless you wanted to varathane it with the diamond coat so it wouldn't scratch. We were going to pair it with a white crib that has black brown trim, but now we're going to get the white Hemnes.
We've been using the wire racking until now because S was sharing a room, but we're getting her the upright dresser. It's definately too high to use as a change table, and I'm tall. I just use a change mat on the floor. I would go with the wide chest style of Hemnes.
We had side tables like that, so that's what I'm going off of. But they were in a room with three kids for a few years, so probably more wear and abuse than normal. It's the only reason we've not got the kitchen table I like from Ikea, the warehouse demo looks like hell too, but I love the colour and style.
MJ did you see that IKEA makes the Sundvik crib in the same black-brown? It's not the solid black I would like, but better!

We have the black-brown Hemnes 3-drawer dresser (LOVE IT!) that we also use as the changing table - it is the perfect height. Her crib is black. We also have a Hemnes side table in there, and a black daybed (also IKEA). It all goes really well together.
I think you could probably get away with a dark espresso crib with that dresser as well, but the dresser really does look more black than brown.
