2nd Trimester

I'll get yelled at for this

I know some of you guys on here don't like talking about weight gain/loss. But it makes me feel better seeing people say, "everyone is different". I had extra weight pre pregnancy, and my doctor told me to ONLY gain 15 pounds. I'm going crazy over here thinking, "oh no I shouldnt eat that, I'll gain weight". Its driving me crazy! But being on these boards and seeing the different weight gains/losses from everyone, has made me realize, as long as i'm eating healthy ( a few indulges here and there hehe) its ok... because.....everyone is different right? uhh. So far I've gained 8 pounds, but I know the pounds are coming on because I have been so hungry the past 2 weeks.

I'm glad DH is being supportive, he'll say "hunny, you need to eat.. its for the baby" hehehehe

Re: I'll get yelled at for this

  • just make sure you're eating healthy foods and don't cheat on that too much.  then you can ignore the numbers on the scale easier.

  • As long as your heart and everything is fine, you will be fine.  Just try to eat healthy and take your PNV's, your baby will gorw just fine in there!

  • It's alot easier when DH is supportive and not an a hole. Just stick to healthy choices then you won't feel guilty for splurging.
  • You totally will be ok- I think it's good that you are keeping an eye out on it-- because you don't want to gain too much and risk complications in the pregnancy... but as long as you monitor yourself- but also make sure your getting enough to eat, you'll totally be fine.

  • It is what it is.  And someone will always think you've gained too much and someone else will tell you not enough.

My midwife said to me at our 19 week appointment "so you've put on give or take 15 pounds half-way through" and I said okay....I thought she was scolding me.  My husband thought she sounded like I needed to eat more.  Whatever.  I'm going to keep eating just the same for now.

  • I started heavy, too. I've gained 10 lbs so far and the doctor seems less concerned than me. If you're eating well and when you are hungry, then that's all you can do.  I think 15 lbs is a little low, even if you started plus size.  From what I've read, 20-25 lbs is a little more realistic.
  • I started heavy, and I've already gained 20 pounds.  I worry about it sometimes, especially because the last month, I seem to be incapable of eating "healthy". I'd eat sugar and crap and eat until I was stuffed.  I know better, but I just couldn't stop.  Now I seem to be better about my eating, but I still dread getting on the scales.
  • Just don't try to justify it, the baby doesn't NEED a ton of extra food right now.  But yes you are just fine!
