How to mix cereal?

How do you make the oatmeal cereal?

Directions say 1 TB of cereal with 4 TB of formula...my question is how do you make the formula...we do not use a pitcher...we use the formula dipenser measured per ounces for her bottles...So how do you make 4 TB of formula?

ETA: When do you give the oatmeal, if it is only once per day?  Do you warm it up or room temp?...we give all bottles at room temp

Re: How to mix cereal?

  • I make bottles on demand, so we don't use a pitcher either. I either make a bottle with 2 oz. and use that or if he is going to have his bottle right after his oatmeal, I'll just make an 8 oz. bottle and use some of that to mix.

  • The 4 tbsp ended up being about 2 oz for me, and I just mixed it when needed, then heat and stir into oatmeal.  I gave it about 1 hour before her bedtime bottle.  Now, a month later, she gets 2 tbsp of oatmeal, mixed with 1 oz of formula at about 10am and 8pm.

You'll figure out what works for you...make a 1-2 oz. bottle to keep in the fridge just for solids (once you're feeding multiple times a day), make the bottle the regular size your LO eats, and then pour whatever you need into the oatmeal and just have your LO eat a slightly smaller bottle, or if you really don't follow the 'rules' of formula, save whatever little leftovers your LO has from a bottle (in the fridge) to use later for oatmeal.

we do this. I have the sitter save what ever is left from the bottles throughout the day (it adds up to about 2 oz) and I mix it with a tablespoon and a half of cereal. LO hardly eats it all, but I don' feel like I am wasting...
