how much sex?

I know a lot of you are already past TI, so I'm sorry if this is annoying.

How beneficial is it to have sex twice in one day when you're TTC? Assuming there is no MFI playing a part here, is it worth it?* Is there enough time for the man's sperm count to replenish in 12 hours? I don't know anything about MFI or how any of that works. I don't think DH has an issue, but I just don't know a lot about it.

*And by worth it, I mean I'm pretty sore.

I'm ovulating today, and as far as I can feel it hasn't happened yet. He just came home for lunch so we could have sex. I want to wait until tomorrow morning, but he wants to again tonight. Would you just suck it up or wait until morning? TIA.

I personally feel like once a day is plenty and that twice a day is not worth your while. But that's just my opinion.

I've always heard the more the better, if as you say there is no mfi. More sex=more chances. Has your DH been tested?

I''ve read it should actually be every day to every other day. the sperm doesn't have time to replenish and mature if its too often. Good luck!

This. I would do max 1 time per day, but every other day is prob just as good or better.

I'm interested to see these responses. We are doing our first TI cycle this time, too, and the doc says to have sex the night you trigger (supposedly the night of day 12), nothing on day 13, and then sex again on day 14 (about 36 hours after trigger, on the day of ovulation). I asked him if it would hurt anything or help anything to do it on day 13, too, and he said go for it if you want (SA is normal) but it probably doesn't make a difference. I'm thinking we'll do it in the evening on day 12, in the morning on day 13, and then in the morning again on day 14. That way we'll have 24 hours to "replenish the stores" between day 13 and day 14, and if the juices aren't flowing as much on the morning of day 13 I won't worry about it. I just can't get that intercourse timer from FF off of my mind, that shows the best chances if you hit every day from O-3 leading up to O. That might be the over-achiever in me coming out though

Even without MFI, twice a day is too much. If the last one is 'just for good measure' and it would be too late to wait, then ok, but otherwise no. You shouldn't even do it once a day for more than a couple days in a row. 3 days in a row is a maximum. With no MFI, your odds are best if you do it 2 days before O, 1 day before O, and day of O. With no infertility at play, you have up to a 36% chance this way. If you do it EOD, you have up to a 33% chance. So, don't over think it. Either way, you hit your fertile window and are good.

If your sore, don't do it! It's not worth it.

No, not yet. At my d&c my doc came and said he has 100% confidence that his numbers are just fine, seeing as I've *technically* been pg 3 times now.

I think it just depends on the RE. I asked because I was actually worried we could only have sex once every other day or so. We have a healthy sex life and I didn't want to over do it and cause more harm than good. She said everyday, multiple times a day, whatever you are comfy with. HTH!!!!!
