What are you doing for your man on Valentines Day?

I am currently trying to figure out what all I am going to do for my DH for Valentines day. I plan on doing a 14 days of Valentines kinda deal where you get a lot of small stuff like a box of $1 candy a day with a cute saying. I also want to get him something special for the 14th day. So far I have writen him a letter talking about how he is a great husband and how I know he will be a great daddy. So to help me get some more ideas I thought it would be fun to hear what all you ladies are doing for your DH's for Valentines Day.

we don't do a thing usually. I do make a family breakfast and the theme is pink. So strawberries and sometimes raspberries, strawberry milk, chocolate chip pancakes with red food coloring and a ham steak. Its silly but the kids love it!

This is generally us as well (plus DH hates that there is supposed to be this one day where he is supposed to "prove or display his love" - he thinks we are supposed to do this everyday, year round - how do I argue with that! ).
We may give a card (and even that is hit or miss), but nothing else. Crowded restaurants, waiting 2 hours to eat, etc are not our cup of tea. I admire the dedicated people who are willing to "forge ahead" for the sake of the day though.

We usually go to White Castle - they actually have waiter service and put candles and fake flowers on the tables, and everyone gets all dressed up. It's a hoot. They also take a polaroid pic of you and give you a little goodie bag with coupons and magnets and other junk. Smile

We don't usually do much as far as gifts and going out, but I find that I don't like completely ignoring the day either. I like meaningful gifts and DH, who's currently deployed, really enjoys getting tangible things that he can really use to feel close to home right now. Back in December I started a little journal for him called Let Me Count the Ways. Basically each day a journal entry is made capturing a reason that I love him, recapping a memory from our marriage or courtship, or elaborating on some quote or poem that I feel is appropriate for our relationship.

I heard about that! Last year I was driving by White Castle and saw on their sign, "Don't forget to make your reservation for Valentine's Day!" I thought it was a joke, so I posted a pic of it on FB. Some of my friends told me it was for real! That is funny!

We have a tradition where we go out to eat and then take a carriage ride through downtown. We dont really buy each other gifts anymore. I like simple things like him fixing me dinner or offering to clean the house and he likes cuddle time and watching movies.

I'll probably make him a card and get him a bag of conversation hearts since those are his favorite Valentine's Day candy. For DD, will probably purchase one of those small heart-shaped boxes of candy and a card or balloon.

While I agree that Valentine's Day should be everyday (in the hypothetical sense), my DH needs desperate help on being romantic. I can count on one hand the number of times I've received flowers from him in the years we've been together. The last time I received flowers from him was for our first wedding anniversary and he was deployed at the time.

We don't usually do much. Cards, usually we'll get each other's favorite candy, sometimes go out to dinner (but never at a fancy place, usually a casual place), etc. I tell him not to buy me flowers on Valentine's Day because they're so expensive.

Last year we weren't planning on going out to dinner but we were in the middle of closing on our house and I was a giant ball of stress on that day in particular. So DH insisted we go out instead of whatever it was I was planning on making for dinner so that I could relax I think we went to Fridays or Islands or some other casual place lol! Like I said, we tend to avoid the fancy places if we do go out.

The night before my prenatal yoga class is turning into a couple yoga, where the instructor is going to teach the guys the best massages, etc, to help us through labor.

We don't normally do anything. Last year, H made me chocolate covered strawberries and we ordered take out from a local Indian restaurant. We will probably do something similar this year since we both work and don't usually get home until after 7pm.

I usually plan and cook an elaborate feast, it's a fun excuse to try fancy new recipes that I'd never otherwise dare to attempt. But I don't know if I'm up for it this year, especially since it's on a weeknight, and I'm pretty sure he won't care too much if I skip it. We'll see!

We got married Feb 26th last year so we are combining V Day and our anniversary this year to save $. I don't know what we are doing but we wont get gifts, and we will probably just got out on a date like to dinner and movie or something. Gotta save money for the baby!

Last year a non-profit arts group in my town had a big masquerade ball. It was an awesome and unique event. Great music and performances by some (a bit out there) dance troupes, plus awesome food. It was so funny and different and romantic.

We're going again this year. I'm excited... been looking forward to it for months.

My husband is way better at Valentine's Day than I am. We don't usually do big gifts or anything (we both have spring birthdays, so we just save it), but he always surprises me with something fun to do. We haven't even talked about it this year, so we'll see, but I'm liking phancykat's idea of going to see Star Wars in 3D. Actually, he really likes flat caps, and he keeps saying I owe him another one. I might get him one of those, because he'd never see it coming.

We'll be leaving the little one with my MIL and going to Red Lobster. We got about $100 worth of Red Lobster gift cards for Christmas and made sure to save some for Valentine's Day. I wanted to order him personalized dark chocolate Dove promises because that's his favorite candy. I know they used to offer them on their website that you could get your own message printed inside them, but when I looked the other day, it seems that they don't do this anymore.

This will be our second Valentine's together. Last year we kicked MIL and SD out, he made me dinner, and we had sex anywhere but the bedroom. I also got flowers and that weekend we finally got around to purchasing my engagement ring/wedding band set. I bought him a sword.
