Any luck with massage, stroke, shake?

Anyone had any luck using massage, stroke, shake method from LLLI? It seems when I stop pumping in the middle of a session to do this, I don't get as much when I start pumping again than if I would have just kept pumping.

So has anyone noticed a difference after starting this method? And how long did it take you to notice a difference? And around-abouts how much more are you getting than before you tried it?

Thanks! :)

Re: Any luck with massage, stroke, shake?

  • I sometimes do this. Well, I always do it before I pump and sometimes in the middle. The idea is to trigger another let down, so I only do it if nothing is happening. And I follow it up with switching my pump back to letdown mode. Sometimes it works. (Impossible to know if it would have happened anyway, though).

As far as amounts, it varies. I only do it when I'm having issues and usually get about another oz or so (I tend to pump between 4 and 6oz/session (one side) ).

My feeling about it was that it couldnt hurt. Based on your experience, maybe its not working. If you can, maybe keep a log of when you do it/amounts (and decide beforehand if you are going to---don't only do it if issues) and get some data to answer how its working with your body.

  • What is LLLI?

I am ftm and am bf but when baby doesn't latch I have a small amount of pumped milk. Is this post about how to pump more?
