We have a really small backyard but I'd still like to get a swing/slide set for DS as he gets older. I'm thinking something with a medium-sized slide (so he could still use it when he's 5+) and two swings. I don't think we have room for much more.
What kind of material would you recommend? There are a lot of wood options, but are they going to last without getting splintery and looking really weathered? Do the plastic ones get really hot in the sun?
Does anyone have a particular set they love or don't like?
TIA!
Re: Swing/slide set questions
Thanks! I actually saw that one online and it seemed like a perfect size but I never thought about looking on Craigslist - great idea - it retails for a couple hundred, at least! I also saw that there is a pool you can attach to the slide in the summer - they're obviously too small now, but it looked fun!
DH is wanting something bigger that DS can play on for a long time, but I think it is going to be impossible to fit, and we're walking distance from a park. We could put a big one in our front yard but I'm pretty sure we agree that would look really odd.
Two questions:
Does the plastic get hot? I'm can't remember how shady our new yard is in summer
When do you think your girls will outgrow it?
I never really noticed the plastic getting too hot but we got it at the end of summer so we didn't use it a ton in the hot weather.
I don't know about the outgrowing question. I'm thinking probably around age 5 or 6?
Thanks! 5 or 6 seems reasonable to me, especially for $75! you got a great deal.
Funny that we are trying to convince the DH's of opposite things with the same swing set
