Well it happened to me for the first time. I have read many posts about cashier comments when purchasing hpts but I have never had it happen to mention to me until tonight. DH and I went grocery shopping and I picked up some hpts. The cashier told us how so and so tried Ivf 3 times and failed. They went on to adopt and a few days after getting their baby she found out she was preg. Wow all she had to do was relax! She mentioned how relaxing benefits us both. Now neither I nor dh said anything to initiate any such convo and I didn't say anything about ttc. The lady was very nice tho. Dh then said "oh we have heard that many times". She apologized for going on and on and I think she just wanted to tell us a success story ( eventhough we never mentioned our struggles). It was kinda funny to me just because I hear stories about cashiers making comments. Now if it was a different day I may have been crabby and wanted to punch her lol!
Re: Cashier comments
Lol this made me laugh. I need to remember this for next time a stupid comment comes my way.
OP I'm glad she caught you on a good day!
Clomid- No response
Metformin 1500 mg Femara 5mg + Trigger + TI Round 2 = BFP!
Beta 13DPO: 115, Beta 16dpo: 561 BFP Chart
So annoying!
When this stuff happens to me, I remember something my mom told me. She had breast cancer about 10 years ago and had to suffer through many, many people (including strangers) telling her about their mother/sister/aunt/best friend who had breast cancer and either survived or didn't. Lots of advice, etc. She was dealing with her own struggle and it seemed like most people wanted to unload their own emotions and experiences on her. She told me "I realized that their comments were really about their own need to process their own stuff, it wasn't about me at all." I think that helped her to not take that stuff personally. I try to remember that throughout this TTTC time in my life...but other people's comments still get to me sometimes.
If that doesn't work, there's always HPTs online
Very wise words. I'll try to remember that the next time some well-meaning cashier throws in her $0.02 about my HPT purchases (I always get the talkers).
OP, I'm sorry to welcome you to the club of ladies who get unsolicited advice from cashiers. I'm glad you and YH were able to keep a good attitude about it. The first time it happened to me, I cried.
