Babies: 6 - 9 Months

LO throwing up last night for idk what reason...help calm me down please

LO is almost 6mos and the first 3mos of his life his spit up like crazy...after that he's been really good and lately not spitting up much at all.  I EBF, but last night while we were eating we gave him a piece of ritz cracker and he did swallow some. (we haven't started solids yet, except that cracker)  For about an hr or 2 after that he was just fine and played and carried on.  After his bath we had him in the crib to get him dressed and he spit up, so DH sat him up then he proceeded to let out a huge burp/throw up.  We took his temp and he was fine.  So I went to nurse him to sleep at bedtime and he ate some, then spit that all up...then spit up some more...there couldn't have been anything left...but he was so tired cuz he's been changing up his naps from 3 to 2 a day so all he wanted to do was sleep.  He only seemed bothered it seemed, that he was awake, not so much that he was sick.

He was restless all night and seemed to not get comfortable, and I fed him at 11pm, 4:30am, 8:45am, then 10:45am this morning.  He's kept everything down since, and he had a reeeally messy poopy stinky diaper this morning (as well as pooped twice during the night) and now he's been asleep since 10:50am this morning, waking once for 15min and played with his blanket, then fell back to sleep.  It's now 1:30 and he's still asleep and i'm worried about him...i can't stand myself im such a worrier.

Do you think a cracker could cause all this?  Think I should let him continue to sleep?  Has anyone else had this happen?  He seemed fine and normal this am for the 2+ hrs he was up.  I've txtd my pedi (she's a friend, and knows LO better than anyone else in the office)  so I'm waiting to hear from her too....am I overreacting? cuz im a worrying mess.  Any changes in his sleep pattern or something like him throwing up last night send me into a coniption....haha.  Any words of advice or comfort are welcome

  • The cracker could have done it, but most likely it's nothing. I'd wait to hear back from your friend/pedi. Babies spit up/throw up often. Just make sure you are replenishing fluids (bf) and there's no fever.

    DS has funky poo sometimes when I introduce a new food. We've been introducing table foods, i.e. pasta with a little sauce... omg his poo was horrible >_<;

  • If he's otherwise acting fine, I wouldn't worry about.

    Babies all the way through toddlers puke all the time for no apparent reason.

    I know tons of toddlers for example that puke and then say, "Mom I'm fine" and go back to playing.

    It happens.

    My LO puked twice yesterday and she finally got out of the spit up stage. I think it's her teeth/swallowing so much drool.

  • Possibly--but more than likely just a tummy virus.  My LO (DS2) just had that the beginning of the month--lasted about 2-3 days--and it sucked.  It's scary when you don't know what's wrong.  BUT I will also add that DS1 has very bad food allergies and when he had a ritz cracker even over this past summer had one of the worst reactions I've ever seen him have---it was frightening.  So something to consider.  At least he's getting it all "out"...the hard way though.
