Right now I am working 10am-5pm 5 days a week. I try to BF at 9am before leaving for the day and then BF as soon as I get home and LO is awake. I pump 3x while at work (every 2 hours) and get around 7-8oz each day total. She is usually taking 3-4 3oz bottles while I'm gone, so I'm having to pump at night to keep up. Is this amount normal, or should I try to increase my supply? I'm already eating oatmeal daily and drinking lots of water.
Re: Back at work - pumping question
Are the 3 pumping sessions at work the only times you pump? I'm not sure whether the amount is normal or you should try to increase supply (or both - maybe it's normal but you'd like your supply to be better than normal), but if I were you, I'd probably add a pumping session early in the morning.
I pump 3x/day at work but I also pump once in the early AM while still at home (5:45 AM ish), and that's almost always my most productive session.

Becoming a better role model for my daughter, one day at a time
I have been pumping in the middle of the night on the side she doesn't feed, and sometimes when I get home from work if she is napping. I have not tried pumping in the morning before I leave for work though, so I may try that.
I guess I was just hoping to be able to get enough while pumping at the office and not have to pump at home as well.
I'm sorry - I do see now that you mentioned your night sessions in your OP. I missed that at first. I guess I'd aim to switch one of your night sessions to a morning session to see if that produces more, because we tend to have more milk in the AM. Good luck.

Becoming a better role model for my daughter, one day at a time
i've been having a hard time actually letting down for the pump while at work, and i think it's because i'm now fully relaxed the way i am at home. too many distractions outside the door with co-workers walking by and talking. so, i chug a LOT of water during the day, plug in headphones, massage, and then start pumping. that's increased my output to about 12 oz a day. some days are better than others, depending on my stress level.
but mornings are generally way more productive. your body's able to make more milk while you're resting/asleep and that's why you can get more when you do it in the morning after you wake.
She usually wakes up between 5:30 and 6:30 to feed, so I will try pumping then and see if that helps. Thanks for all the advice!
