DH and I were doing some budgeting last night, and while we now know we are having a shower, we aren't depending on it. So we added up the total cost of everything on our registry (we added everything we will need, as it's also serving as a check list for us). I was a bit surprised at the total!
Our registry (which you can look at, its linked in my siggy) came to $2500.00. Part of me expected that to be a lot higher, but at the same time, thats a LOT of up front cost! ![]()
so, whats your up front cost?

I haven't been using mine as a shopping list for myself and find that most of the things on it are nice-to-have's as opposed to must have's. The must-have's come out to around $1,150 for us, but we're also being given a few big ticket items as gifts from immediate family (crib, travel system, pack and play, swing). We also have older dressers that we're re-finishing to help save costs. And I'm pretty sure most of the things on my must-have list can be caught on sale or cheaper with more extensive searching.
Honestly its not as bad as I thought it'd be! I don't know if I have a concept of how much baby stuff costs yet since we've been holding off on buying almost anything.
Ours is about $1700, but there are very few large items on it. The biggest items are the car seat ($250) and the breast pump ($300).
We bought the other large items (furniture, glider, stroller, high chair) ourselves already.
When I added mine up a little while ago it came to about $2000. That doesn't include the stroller, nursery furniture or any clothing.
Since my shower will be pretty small, I kind of wish I only put the things we need right away on the registry. I was kind of annoyed when the first things to be bought were the mobile and high chair, neither of which will be needed until he's several months old (we're not setting up the nursery until after we move this summer). Oh well, I guess we would have needed to get that stuff eventually, and it does give people more variety to choose from.
Fortunately we have a ton of credit card points that we will cash out for amazon gift cards to get most of the must-haves that we're not gifted.

I have no idea. That's a good idea though, adding it up. If I had to guess maybe $1500-$2000?? It's probably more. I'm bad with money. Good thing I married a man who isn't.
Ours is on the cheaper side because we don't have a separate room for a nursery, just a little nook under the stairs. It works and is very tastefully done to match our living room in our 1BR lofted apartment. That means only a crib and a dresser we bought at Ikea for furniture.
Not quite what you wanted to know but...
The grass drying tray (according to my cousin) doesn't have drain holes meaning it grows mold down in the grass....
I was really bummed because I really liked it but I took it off mine
