Anyone trying to flip a breech?

Just found out baby girl is frank breech on Thursday but I don't see my OB until Wed so I'm in a bit of a state of limbo at the moment since I don't want to try too many techniques without first discussing with him. In the meantime I'm being very careful about my positioning/ posture, doing some spinning babies moves to loosen/allign my pelvis.  Holding off a few days on the inversions because I feel  like I should wait until after my seeing my doc and finding out the results of the ultrasound.

Just curious if this is your situation what you have tried and if anything has worked? If you've tried the webster technique what was that like? I am planning on making a chiro appointment for the end of the week.  I am also considering accupuncture but I'm not sure I'm sold on that idea yet.  I think I would consider a version if I am a good candidate but am a bit scared of the risks so H will have to give that decision a lot of thought.

I'm feeling so down about this right now.  I had a great birth experience with dd and in a strange way have really been looking forward to experiencing it once again this time without the fear of the unknown.  Bottom line is obviously having a healthy baby no matter how she comes into the world but it's hard not to stress or feel down when things don't go as expected.

Sorry so long!

Re: Anyone trying to flip a breech?

  • I found out baby was breech at 33 weeks (I knew before, but it was confirmed then).  From 33-36 weeks I did spinning babies every day (spinningbabies.com), went to the chiro 2-3 times a week and also did acupuncture (with moxibustion) twice a week.

I ended up getting a version done on Tuesday this week and she is now heads down.  I think if I had been more patient she would have probably flipped on her own- she was already transverse on Tuesday and making her way, but I was getting pretty stressed about the whole thing, so I think it was a good choice in the end.

FYI- the version is NOT a pleasant experience.  I was never worried for our safety or anything, but I won't say that it wasn't painful...and mine only lasted less than a minute because she was so close and actually cooperated.  If I were you I would get on with at least spinning babies ASAP and try the other methods before going this route.  For many women these methods work right away.

  • My baby has been all over the place- I get weekly biophysicals so I see it all the time - every week in a different position.  On monday it was head down, but Thursday the midwife thought it had shifted again.  I go back tomorrow for another ultrasound.

I've been going to the chiro for webster and it does seem to work (plus I feel really good afterward).  This baby just seems to be really, really active.  I'm 38 weeks today and meeting with a "regular" OB on Tuesday just in case I can't have the midwife birth I've been planning.  Hopefully your little one turns!!
