3D/4D failure (vent)

I had my 3D/4D ultrasound scheduled for today at 3pm.  I had my husband, parents, in-laws, the Godfather, and me.  We showed up 20 minutes early and I had to fill out ALL the paperwork I had previously filled out when I had made the appointment because they lost it.  We were not taken back until 3:20pm.  I laid on the table and right when she puts the knob thing on my stomach she says ?oh, you are breech which means we can?t do this today.?  We did not even get a glimpse of anything since she was on my stomach for less than 5 sec.  My mom asks me if they told me that when I got the appt if they baby was breech they wouldn?t do it and the tech interrupts me and says ?we don?t tell people that because it would discourage them from coming in and most people don?t know they are breech.?  I just had a drs appt this week and I could a told her I was instead of people taking off early from work or having to drive 2 hours away for not even a glimpse.

The tech then tells me that since a bought the ?cheapest package? they usually would not even reschedule for free but out of the goodness of her heart she would allow it.  I was so speechless and disappointed I just rescheduled with the receptionist for 2 weeks later.  My mom asked if there was a different tech we could be schedules with but not ONLY was our tech the only tech BUT she is also the OWNER.  I also realized that her next appointment for 3:15pm was waiting so maybe that is why she kicked us out so fast.   

After I got home and thought about it I decided that I did not want these people having our money.  I was fully prepared to leave with a not so great picture but to not even try and the rudeness we got was horrible.  I called them up saying very nicely we had changed our minds about rescheduling and would just like our money back.  I was speaking to the receptionist BUT I heard the owner in the background talking to her.  The receptionist said ?Well, if you are too impatient to wait to see if baby turns in the next two weeks then that is your poor choice.  We normally don?t give refunds but I suppose we could write you a check (we paid with a cc) and mail it to you sometime next week.?  I said okay but still was worried about them not following through so I went ahead and called the bank to dispute it. 

When I made the appt they gave me a list of stuff to do before the appt to make sure it was the best.  I followed that list to a T.  I drank tons of water, showed u early, ate something to get her moving, BUT nowhere on that list said make sure baby was not breech. 

Side note:  My baby does have a medical issue that requires us to get a few more ultrasounds than usually.  We were made to go to a specialist on Wednesday were they did an ultrasound for measurements and for fun they turned on the 3D/4D for a minute.  The image was perfect accept she had her arms in front of her face.  Why did my dr have no problem taking a 3D pic while breech.  And one reason for going to the elective ultrasound was so it could be a fun one with family and not just for medical reasons.

I am sooooo sorry for the long post I am just tired and mad at the whole situation.  I thought today was  going to be great.  Thank you for listening and if you are planning a 3D/4D ultrasound make sure you ask if breech is bad.

  • That sounds horrible. I was high risk so we didn't see the need to do an elective u/s. I hope you get your money back soon.

  • WOW! That is awful. I would be raising hell. Good for you for asking for a refund and following up with the bank to dispute the charge. Don't let this go! I'd be writing bad reviews left and right if possible. If they didn't refund me I'd go to the news or something.

    Also, see if you can report this to the BBB. 

    Sorry, that is really horrible. This place sounds ridiculous.

  • Wow! Sorry about the bad experience you had. I think you made the right call in asking for your money back, that attitude is just not acceptable! I've been going to a specialist and at every appt they do a 3D/4D and for the past 4 weeks we have not been able to get a picture because she has a foot or hand in front of her face! When you go back to MFM, ask them for a quick peek, my dr office always does it, without asking! Good luck and I hope it works out!

    All this and especially the bolded part. I was actually going to say the same thing. 

    That is horrible business conduct and customer service. We have our 3D/4D tomorrow and I was told I didn't need to have a full bladder. I'm so sorry you had that experience and your family had to travel all that way for nothing. 

  • Sorry you had such a bad experience.  I can't believe an owner would act like that.  I would be telling everyone I know NOT to go there.

  • the place where i get my 3d/4d ultrasound is amazing. i'm so sorry you had such a problem with the place you went to. they were able to do my ultrasound when i was 27 weeks and my youngest son was still breech. i can't believe they treated you like that!
  • Wow this is just crazy! When I had mine the baby was breech and we got tons of great pictures and was also told I could come back for free and get even more pictures. I got other free things all because the baby was breech. And that's not even the techs fault! My picture on here was taken when the baby was breech. I'm so sorry you had a bad experience! Sounds like your tech was just a rip and really didn't wanna do it!

  • That is absolutely RIDICULOUS.  I would definitely be writing bad reviews all over the place for that place.

  • What everyone else has said! Also WTF does a breech baby have to do with an elective 3d/4d ultrasound? I would like to know!

  • That really sucks, I am sorry to hear that, I did two elective ultrasounds with no problems whatsoever. Our tech tried a variety of things because our baby was being stubborn and quiet when she is usually out of control. It sounds like your tech was just in a sh*t mood and she took it out on you guys for no reason. I would definitely be writing bad reviews and good job for disputing the charge with your bank.

    Same here. The tech even had me try rolling on my side and had me get up and stretch a few times to see if he'd adjust. She really tried hard to get the best pics. The pictures came out as well I had expected but, even still, she told me to come back and she'd do it all for free again. I went back at 32 weeks and he wasn't breech anymore but, this time, he wanted to hide so we got almost nothing.  The tech (who is my doc's ultrasound tech), said, "Well, I'll try it again when you come back for your last ultrasound at 36 weeks." Truthfully, I was fine with the first set of pics but I appreciate her tenacity!

  • I don;t understand how a breech baby would mean that she couldn't do the ultrasound. Chase was breech at my 3D/4D ultrasound and I couldn't have asked for better pictures. I think you're making the right decision not to spend your money there! She didn't even give you an explaination!
