Reintroduction :( and some questions...

Hi ladies...I used to post here from August-November and recieved my BFP at the end of November. Unfortunately I have just had my 3rd loss at 12 weeks, 1 day. I was so excited for my NT scan but my husband and I knew that something was wrong when the tech didn't turn the screen and had me empty my bladder for an internal exam. As soon as the doctor came in we knew. I did have feelings that this wasn't going to work out the entire time but I tried to push those back.

We are obviously devastated, sad, and angry. Why does this keep happening? I thought because I had made it so far that I would be "safe". I had very light brown spotting when I wiped for a few days but my doctor thought it was from sex and nothing to worry about so we were pretty blindsided, especially because we had seen the heartbeat twice. The doctor said that our baby died somewhere in middle of the 8th week. It breaks my heart that it probably happened right after we saw the heartbeat for the second time.

As luck would have it, a few hours after my appt. I started cramping and heavily bleeding. I have been miscarrying for last few days at home naturally. For all of you ladies who have had a natural m/c, I don't know how you did it. It is the most painful, emotionally exhausting experience I have ever gone through. I had a d&c with my last loss so this is experience has been eye opening. I am a bit dissapointed that I won't be able to test the tissue of the baby now but I will be requesting lots of testing for myself. At this time, we don't seem to have trouble getting pregnant, just keeping the baby.

I am going in today to see if I passed everything and will be meeting with the doctor. I am sure they will not do any testing for a few weeks but what tests should I ask for? Should I ask for a referral to a specialist? I know they mentioned testing to see if I have a blood clotting disorder. I have already had my thyroid tested, was on progesterone supplements, and all the basic blood work came back fine. Not sure what to ask for...but I want to be prepared as I know many doctors still feel that 2 losses(they don't count my first loss as it was a CP) could be a fluke and don't necessarily take it seriously.

Although I am sad to be back here, I know this is a supportive and loving board and I hope you will have me back.

I am saddened to say welcome back, after all you've been through and thought you were safe. (((hugs))) I hope you find the answers to your questions. As far as they go, I would ask the dr his/her opinion on why this could've happened, and ask if there is any testing you can do to find the cause, as well as ask for a referral to a specialist in high risk pregnancies. I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope you get your sticky baby soon!

As a person who has left and then come back, I feel your pain. I too have had 3 losses, very similar. First a CP, then 2 missed miscarriages. I agree - you should absolutely request testing. Like all the OBs say, it is unlikely they will find anything, but you never know. I had D and Cs with my last two losses, so I don't have any advice regarding natural M/C, but I have heard that it is very hard. Hugs to you as you heal.

NO! I was so sad to read your post on PgAL yesterday. I was really hoping that everything would be fine and you wouldn't have to be coming back here. Even though the circumstances suck beyond words, you are always welcome back. I am so so sorry. Sending you some huge ((hugs)). Having a natural m/c is horrible. My first one I did most of it at home and then bled for almost 4 weeks before a D&C. It was definitely one of the most horrible experiences of my life.

I don't have any advice on what to ask your doctor. Sorry.

So sorry to see you back here Sad

My first loss was a natural m/c, and you're right, it is AWFUL! I hope that when you go to the Dr. they tell you that you passed everything on your own. I don't really know what tests to ask for, as I've only had two losses. I do recommend though that if your Dr. won't do the testing yet because of the CP, check what your insurance covers as far as elective fertility testing. If the Dr. doesn't say you need to have it, but you push for it, then it may be coded differently and not paid out as much by the insurance company. ((((HUGS)))) to you!

My heart is totally broken for you. I am so, so sorry for your losses.

I have had two losses and have not yet undertaken testing, but I have seen many ladies recommend seeing an RE rather than an OB. I don't believe my insurance covers an RE, but if/when the time comes I will think very seriously about paying out of pocket for an RE.

I am so, so sorry to see you back here. I hope the ultrasound shows a clear ute. As for testing, this was my second loss and my doc went ahead and did an RPL panel. I'm not sure if he did a full panel or not, but he tested me for thyroid problems, auto-immune issues, clotting disorders, etc. I would definitely request that at least. Since this was only my second, they aren't ready to refer me to a specialist. If you feel you need or want to be referred, I would go ahead and request. Even though your first loss was a CP, it's still a loss, making this one your third.

I am so sorry for your losses and that you have found yourself back here. It is so heartbreaking.

My situation is similar to your as we just had our 3rd consecutive loss in December. After this loss my dr finally decided to do some testing. I had a complete recurrent loss blood testing, DH also had blood testing and then when those results come back she will determine what other tests are necessary. She has also advised that we see a RE.

Good for you for going in to the dr today prepared and ready to seek answers. I hope the appointment goes well. Let us know.

I am so so sorry, this is heartbreaking. I would definitely push for RPL testing, hopefully it's just a terribly bad luck or something that can be easily taken care of. Either way, I am sending many T&Ps for you!

I am so sorry for your loss! I sometimes lurk on the PgAL board and saw your siggy and thought there was hope for me, the third time really is the charm. Don't let them tell you a CP doesn't count. A loss is a loss. My doctor said they don't do a full work up until you have had three losses. However, after my second one, I had a lot of b/w done. She isn't concerned about doing an HSG because they know I can get pregnant and my tubes are clear. The majority of the b/w I had done was clotting panels. I would say start from there. Your OB/gyne should be able to handle all of that testing. I have told myself that if I have a third m/c, I will seek out an RE (reproductive endocrinologist). Again, I am so sorry for your loss.
