3rd Trimester

Can you have sex, if you've begun to dilate?

I am begining to get extremely horney (sorry if its TMI). But DH is scared, he says he do not want to make me contract. Should I let it go, or what should I do? But I want it bad!! Confused

Re: Can you have sex, if you've begun to dilate?

  • Its fine! The only time it isn't is if you are on pelvic rest or your water has broke.

No.  You can't have sex ever again.  The baby might get poked in the head.

    Agreed.

    This :)

  • I'm dilated 1.5 cm as of yesterday, and my dr said sex is fine up until my water breaks. In fact, she said it is encouraged for women who go past their due date bc it can help bring on labor if baby is ready to come out.

  • I was wondering this not about dialation, but I bled yesterday when I was checked...So will I bleed if I have sex? That's a liiiittle bit of a turnoff!

  • I'm 2cm dilated and my SIL is a L&D nurse; she told us no more sex unless we want him to come earlier than EDD.

Not necessarily. I bled a lot after I was checked last week. Like, too much. My doctor told me I had to even go home and lay down to take the pressure off, and then it stopped. Since then, we've had sex and I've been checked again and didn't bleed either time. I guess some days are just more sensitive than others...
