While I am 99% certain this has been talked about before, I unfortunately don't have the time right now to search for it, so I apologize if I'm beating a dead horse.
I have a follow-up tomorrow with my OBGYN and I'm going to talk to her about writing me a script for Domperidone. My milk supply is still right around 375-400ml per 24 hours, and my DD is now eating just as much. I've depleted almost all of my small freezer stash and I'm worried that within a week or two, I'm in trouble!
Anyways, any experiences with taking this med? I know its super expensive, and it has to be filled at a compound pharmacy, which isn't an issue. Just wondering about if it worked, side effects, how long you took it, etc?
Thanks!
Re: experiences with Domperidone for milk supply?
Hi there
well, my son was born at 33 weeks 3 days, and my supply was low. it was the most stressful thing i have ever dealt with because i wanted to breastfeed SO BAD! but my supply was low. I was about to give up, but was told by my midwife to try domperidone. Well, I ordered it online
https://clickremedy.com/modules.php?name=Shopping&do=view&pid=429
And within 2 days, my supply went up. Since I felt so discouraged and ready to give up, i was pumping only 1 time to 2 times a day, and so my supply went down even more. but then once i started taking domperidone, it has been going up and up.
Just to give you an example of what it did.
Day 1, I pumped only 26ml, pumped 6 times, that's what I got total.
Day 2, it went up to 80ml, pumped 7 times
Day 3, it was 80 again, but i only pumped 5 times
Day 4, went to 86, pumped 5 times
Day 5, went to 94, pumped 5 times
Day 6, went to 108, pumped 5 times
Day 7, went to 123, pumped 5 times
Now I am breastfeeding and pumping, so I can't tell exactly what I'm getting. But I get about 2oz each pumping after breastfeeding. But I also do give him formula too. I will see how it goes at two weeks.
Honestly, i didn't think there was hope for me, and right now I'm just trying to build my milk supply back up, and then hopefully get more and more. It's been a miracle drug for me. As you can see there, my supply was VERY low because I almost stopped pumping all together, so I had to build it back up again.
Good luck.
I totally agree with the PP. It was a miricle drug for me. P was born at 29W6D. I pumped for him for his entiere hospital stay of 48 days. We did breastfeed some, but it was hard for him to have the energy to take a full feed at the breast. I would BF him then offer BM in a bottle. Eventally when he was about 4 months old, he would get so frusterated with BFing because it took more time than bottle feeding, that I gave up and became an EPer. I exclusivly pumpped until last week. P is 1 year adjusted and is transitioning to regular milk.
When he stopped nursing, my supply took a big hit even though I was still pumping 7 times a day. I also ordered Domperidone from In house pharmacy overseas and it doubled my supply within a week. I had no side effects at all. I hope this helps you!
It did wonders for me too, but I ordered mine through inhousepharmacy as well. I did reglan per my OB first, and that got me from 8oz a day to 12-16oz. Domperidone got me up to 26-27oz and now I'm at around 24oz with no meds.
