I have been having what i would describe as runners cramps that stretch across the bottom of my belly. I'll have it for long periods of time so I've ruled out contractions. Anyone know what it is?
I've started to cramp as well. My dr said its totally normal and she even told me it was a "good sign" means my body is preparing for baby's arrival. I'm not sure if they are the same kind of cramps as you but they are like menstrual kind of cramps.
If they are one in the same I have been confused this whole time, since round ligaments are not in the crotch and I always understood lightening crotch to be those stabbing pains one gets in her vagina, et al I could be confused.
However, having torn a round ligament in the 5 th month (long story) I can assure you when those babies hurt its in your lower abdomen.

I started getting those right around 33 weeks. Doctor said that it's the baby starting to position itself into the pelvis. RLP is the actual stretching of your uterus, but as the pelvis starts to widen you get an entirely different kind of pain. Sorry you are dealing with it. A warm bath helps!
Its actually the stretching of the ligaments surrounding your uterus and this continues. I wouldn't equate pelvic widening pains to cramping, but I supposed that's semantics. Whatever it is, its probably normal unless its super intense or accompanied by bleeding etc
This is actually why I was coming here today - to post this very topic.
A few days ago I kind of overdid it and spent the next two days with pretty significant menstrual-type cramping only on my left side. It has since moved over to my right back area, same type of cramping (menstrual feeling).
My son has always been very low, pretty much sits on my bladder, but the pressure I feel now is different, and the accompanying cramps are a bit disconcerting.
