Pink eye that's not pink eye?

D has an eye that is red and getting redder. It started yesterday after a playdate with a couple of small dogs. Dog hair in his eye? Allergic reaction? My other concern is that he bumped his cheek bone a few days ago and there is a bruise, so I wonder if there is pressure on his eye.

He doesn't seem in pain, but won't sit still for me to get a closer look. I'm on the west coast, so no dr for a couple more hours. Anyone put eye drops in their kiddos eyes? (Not Visine, but just plain saline). Any other suggestions?

I don't think saline would hurt, but it may not really help either. I definitely would call the doctor when they open, they may want to have it checked out, especially since he hit his cheek recently and has a bruise.

on sunday my LO's eye seemed pink and by monday morning it was red, slightly swollen and bloodshot. no oozing, no crusting but sure enough it was pink eye. our doctor said it's viral but because he has an ear infection as well he put my LO on an antibiotic. he is much better today!
