Painting?

I've read it is not safe to paint while pregnant but I have also read that most paints are low VOC now and as long as the area is well ventilated its fine to do.

I plan on asking my doc at the next appointment, but have any of you asked your doc already?
General opinions?

I painted furniture for the nursery last time and just did it in a open area and used the low VOC paints. It was fine. I did wear a mask when I was sanding the furniture though because I didn't know what the old paint was on there.

I painted the garage last weekend. My doctor said paints have come such a long way there isn't a huge of a concern, especially if it's latex based. I'd say you're safe to do it, just try to ventilate the room and if you notice the smells are bothering you, stop.
