XP: For those who have used Ferber and have daycare

For future reference, not doing Ferber quite yet...

Did you just do Ferber for nighttime?  Or did you somehow let daycare know what to do for nap time too?  Or did you do for nighttime and naps and let dc do whatever?

I plan on starting on a weekend night, so maybe DD'll be good to go by Monday (haha!), but I doubt it.  I don't want all my struggle to go to waste if it's not consistent at daycare, but I know dc has a lot on their hands with all the LOs!  Or maybe DD will understand this is how we do it at home, and this is how dc does it?

  • My daycare will not let babies CIO.  If one baby starts, it upsets all of them.  You might want to check with your DCP to make sure they'll do it before you worry too much about this one.

That's actually good to know.  I never thought about that, but honestly, I can't really even see myself telling dc to just let her CIO.  But I wonder if this would make doing the whole Ferber thing at home more difficult...hmm?

  • My sister is our DCP & she followed Ferber along with us. She just put G in a different room away from the kids during nap time. It only took him a day or two and a max of 7-8 minutes fussing before he'd conk out. Now, however, he babbles through nap time. But at least he lays there and doesn't scream.

  • We only did Ferber at night, not for naps. But our daycare doesn't let babies CIO anyway. I mean, they'll let them cry for a few minutes if they're busy with other kids and can't get to them right away, but they don't do it purposefully.
