Yes, we are planning to go in 2013 in the "off" season before DD starts school and we are forced to travel during school holidays. I have tentatively started doing research and am overwhelmed but I think I can plan it to maximize our time and make sure the kids have a blast. I know that most likely they'll come home sick and that it'll be chaotic but I think seeing them enjoy it will make it worth it! DD talks about DW a lot, she knows that Mickey lives in FL and asks about going there (a few of her classmates have gone). If she were an only child, I think we'd have gone already but I want to wait until DS is older, at least 2.5
Yes! I really want to, but I think its a few years down the road for us considering I have one due in March. My parents took my sister and I several times and I love those memories.
It is a totally foreign idea to my H. His family (well really just my FIL) doesn't tolerate crowds or what he calls "carnival people" or any place that sells those giant turkey legs... But I will get him to come around. Seeing little eyes light up at Cinderella's castle just can't be missed.
yes at some point I would like to go. I was planning on a trip right before DS starts kindergarten, but I also planned on having number 2 now, which because I am not even pg yet, puts things back a bit so we shall see. I also think it depends if #2 is a girl or not, the girls age will play more into account as to when they would be into the princesses etc:-) i went several times as a child
Yes, we've already gone once with the kiddo. We're planning to go once a year, but my parents live fairly close to WDW so it's not as crazy as it sounds.
We were just talking about how we want to make a trip to Daytona for the 60th anniversary running of the 500 and then to Disney as well. Also, we have extensive amounts of family that live from Clearwater for Fort Myers so we'll probably just take 2 weeks and travel the state.
Yes, our current plan is to go in about two years when DD is three. We think that will be a good age for both kids, as DS will only be almost 6. We will probably go during the school year as he will only be in Kindergarten.
Once both kids are at least 4 I'd like to go. I'm a teacher though, so it will have to be during a school holiday, with the rest of the world. Fun fun!
I've never been there myself, so I'm not sure what all the fuss is about :P
In theory we might go when T is 4 or 5. My parents like the idea of going with us for some reason, and I love the idea of a vacation where DH and I get some free time to ourselves.
I've never been and don't feel like I missed much. Growing up my family had a small (18 ft.) RV that the five of us piled into with three dogs and we camped at state parks for our vacations. I like to be an old lady about it "why, back in my day, our 'vacations' meant we went fishing for our food and cooked it up that night over a camp fire - we ate right out of the pan - with our hands" etc. Although it's all true.
DH went as a kid several times and really wants to take the kids. We just spoke with an older couple recently who go every year the week after Christmas (no idea if that is "off" season or not) and they love love love Disney World. They told us to wait until our youngest is 4 or 5 (so, my oldest would be 8 or 9) before we go though - and gave us all sorts of reasons. We can't afford it any time soon anyway, so it might be several years away in any case.
Never thought about having to do it during school vacations. Hmmmm... if my oldest is 8 or 9 she'd be in what, 3rd grade?
Wife, Musician, Fed, WW-er, and Mom of three little kids - not necessarily in that order.
My parents live in FL on the Gulf Coast. My parents already have tentative plans for October 2015. My dad brings it up every time we chat. He was talking about taking our potential kids to Disney before I was even pregnant.
I have no idea if we'll go with. We probably will, but I can't say the thought of going to Disney thrills me. I'm not sure why. Everytime I think about it, it gives me ill feelings in my stomach. Maybe it's the thought of the crowds and how much $$$$ it costs.

Yes! I can't wait to go. I went once as a toddler and then as an young adult and again in 2001 to run the marathon. DH has never been, but I think he'd love it. So, we can't wait to bring the kids. I'm not sure when...maybe when they're three. I'm thinking of starting a small savings account for it b/c I know it will be expensive and we may just get one shot at going but it's one of those things that I always wanted to take my kids to.
yes, but my family is in fl just a few hours away from disney so it's not such a huge ordeal of going. that said, we're going to wait until sprout can either listen to us when he's out of the stroller and can understand the concept of waiting in line.
i went to disney frequently as a kid (b/c we'd go whenever we would have out of country guests) and have good memories.
Yes, we will definately go. DH would go now but I think the kids are too young. We have discussed going before DD goes to kindergarten to try to go at an "off time." My parents are closing this week on a house about an hour from there and we will probably head down to their house some time this year but I would rather not go to Disney because DS is so young. DH and I went twice with my nieces and nephews in 2004 and 2006 and it was so fun. Looks like we will have some people to share tips with!
Definiately! My parents took me when I was 6 and some of my best memories from being that young are from that trip. I've also gone several other times in my life for family vacations/spring break. I cannot wait to take DS and any other future children there. DH has never been so he is excited to go and to take DS too, but we frequently disagree as to when.
Maybe. If we did, not until DD is older. I'm not a huge fan of Disney and the thought of being there and fending off huge crowds (ugh, and the expense) is not appealing to me at all.
Probably, though it will be a few years. I went when I was 6 and it was a great memory, but my brother was 3 and barely remembers it at all. If we have a second kid, I would want him/her to be old enough to remember it. If it means taking them out of school for a few days to avoid the crowds, that's fine.
We're probably in the minority, but DH and I really like Kings Dominion and plan on taking our kid(s) at least once a year or so. I figure one Big Trip to Disney and a yearly KD trip will give them plenty of amusement park memories.
DH has family in Florida so we have been twice but both times were just for one day. We are planning to do a big multi-day Disney trip in a few years when everyone is old enough to do all the rides.

Most likely. I went as a kid, but I barely remember it, so I want to wait until DD2 is at least 4 and can remember the trip. It's not necessarily my idea of the ideal vacation, but DH and the girls will LOVE it, so it's worth it to me. Though DD1 hates any type of "character" and real animals in general, so maybe she won't like it (she is scared sh!tless of the chic-fil-a cow, chuck e. cheese, etc.)
Yes, we're actually thinking about it for this spring...and have to deal with the school thing since DD#1 is in kindergarten. This time around we're going for DD#1, but we'll probably go again when DD#2 (now almost 2) can get more out of it.
I've never been and don't feel that I have missed out necessarily, but I'm up for it (I think;)...DH grew up in Tampa, so he's been and if MIL is still in her house there, we can make it a combo trip.
Yeah, someday. My family went when I was 10 and my sister was 6 and I have some fun memories from the trip. I think DH would go tomorrow if we could, but I think we'll wait until our youngest is at least 3 or 4.
Probably, though it's far, far in the future. I want to be able to see DD's eyes light up at seeing Mickey and the like but I can't say *I* personally am looking forward to it - i hate battling crowds and just think a lot of amusement parks are just money pits with lots of waiting around for very little time to enjoy them. We'll re-evaluate, if/when we have another kiddo and if/when we can afford it but i really want to do it for DD.
Yes! Already went when DD was 21 months and again when she was 3.5 years and DS1 was 18 months. I swore I'd never bring any kids until they were at least 8, but we decided on a whim to go during DH's grad school break the first time. While the kids were too young to do a lot of stuff, and we couldn't be very flexible about our schedule (naps, snacks, moods, etc.), they were still at great ages. A few years older and the "Disney Magic" wouldn't have had the same effect (though I will look forward to more independence for them and me not having to haul a diaper bag or push a stroller). For example, I think they really thought they met the princesses and other characters and didn't get that they were people in costumes (well, DD might have this last time). They were in heaven soaking in all the sounds, sights, and smells of each park, and it was sweet to watch. So we've officially been sucked into the Disney machine: shows, movies, merchandise, etc. There are certainly worse things my kids could be interested in.
I was 16 the first time I went, so I never got to experience Disney World as a kid. Now that I've seen how great it can be for them, we're hooked and will be going back every few years if possible. They run a good military discount program that makes it more financially do-able, and we can stay at a military hotel on park grounds that saves us a decent amount of money. And...I can't wait until DD is old enough to start reading "Harry Potter" and we can also go to Universal for the big theme area.
Definitely! If we stay one and done, we'll go the spring that LO is 5, which will be before he starts kindergarten. Then I hope we'll go back when he's about 8 or 9.
We used to go every year before DS came along so we are definitely planning a trip with him. hopefully many of them! our first trip will probably be in 2013 either April or September.
We will definitely go, but not for a few years. DH has never been! I want to go when C is old enough to keep memories of it (aka, after 4 or 5 years old).
I am sure we will take DD at some point but it is definitely very low on my list. I do not get the appeal of Disney at all. Rides that end in gift shops, long lines, and more expensive than many other way cooler destinations is not my ideal vacation.

We will. It's something I'm really looking forward to.
My parent's waited to take my younger brother and I until he was old enough to remember it. I don't remember exactely what age we were. But I do remember feeling like I was the only kid in the world who hadn't been to Disney by the time we went. I might plan two trips if it works out, do DD doesn't have to wait.
