Sewing and paper free

I am just learning to sew.  I am looking for a few easy projects to start with.  Any ideas of things I can make that will also help get us closer to a paper free house?

I was thinking about dish towels, paper towels, dish clothes?  What type of material would I use for these also?

 Thanks.

  • Cloth Wipes and Paper towels are very easy.  Pick the size you want then you can do 2 layers flannel or one layer flannel and one layer terry cloth.  Tons of tutorials online if you need help on figuring out how to sew them

  • I've been making sets of unpaper towels recently. I put one layer of flannel and one layer of cotton birdseye right sides facing each other and sew around the perimeter leaving enough space to turn. Turn it out, and topstitch around the perimeter to close up the hole and give a finished look.

I have a set of 24 in my kitchen and I'm giving another set of 24 as a wedding present.
