Re: tingly weird feeling in between BF sessions

  • I think I am dealing with the same thing.  I feel it in the entire boob, though.  I am thinking that it is milk rejuvinating or something...

  • A few weeks after started BF, after the initial pain subsided, my nipples would be tingly after some feedings and I found it was when DD had a shallow latch.

Now, if it's been awhile since I fed and my breasts thing it's time to feed again I will get a tingling in my breasts, kind of like pins and needles, for a few seconds. I usually get it when I'm driving to pick up DD from daycare. But it's not uncomfortable.

  • If it's your whole breast and tingly/pins & needles feeling it could be your letdown. See if you notice it a few minutes into your next nursing session.

  • Sounds to me like your let down... sometime if I haven't nursed in awhile or if I'm just thinking about nursing I have the same, almost painful feeling and sure enough, I'm leaking haha. I agree with PP, if you feel the same thing when your milk starts to flow while you're nursing, I'd definitely say that it's the let down.

  • I feel the same thing in between pumpings (EP).  It isn't my letdown...no leaking and I don't feel this when I pump.  I get it when my boobs are full but not yet engorged.

My LO has a shallow latch we are working on...maybe thats why.  Any tips for correcting it?  I feel l like i try everything....on top of that i have a very forceful letdown and my milk literally shoots everywhere.  The worst is my letdown is immediate.  i do hand express into a towel before feeding but it doesnt help because my flow remains forceful till my breast is empty

  • I experience this when my boobs want to have let down, but the nipples are compressed so no milk actually comes out. It's painful for a few seconds!

I did a few things. First, I went to a lactation consultant. It was mostly for help getting rid of the nipple shield but she helped me learn how to make DD latch. Then at home I would watch videos on youtube over and over trying to learn how to make her latch properly. I'm at work so I can't post a link but it was pretty easy to find. Then, if DD latched on too shallow I would just take her off and make her try again. It would get really annoying when my milk was going everywhere and I had to try to squeeze my boob and get her on it but it was worth it. Now she just opens wide automatically.

    This happens to me.
