We will mostly be using our stroller on the pavement, but we might use it on the beach as well. One of my friends has recommended the Bob Stroller, bc I could get the all terrain and use it on multi surfaces. I also like that you can run or walk with it. Are there any other brands out there that are similar?
Re: all terrain strollers?
We love our Baby Jogger Summit XC. It's a jogging stroller, but we have all unpaved walking trails and needed something that would handle the terrain.
Personally, if I "might" use my stroller on unpaved areas once or twice, I wouldn't bother with the all terrain stroller. They are much heavier and not nearly as portable. Navigating a BOB or Summit through a mall would be tough.
We ended up getting a B-Agile to keep in the car and use for paved areas, malls, etc. All of my friends who have all-terrain strollers have two - a lightweight one for the car plus the all terrain for trails, running, etc.
Also, I live at the beach and there's no way I would want to take my stroller through the sand. The walk from the parking lot/house/trail is so short that it would just make the stroller sandy and get the inside of my car all gross. Plus the sand would get into all of the little parts of the wheels, etc and just shorten the life of the stroller.
we are looking at all terrain and have narrowed it down to the following. NONE of these are jogging strollers. when i go jogging i'd prefer that DH watch the baby! we live in the city and the Bob is just too big for our needs.
City Mini GT which comes out in March 2012. https://blog.wildchildgear.com/2011/09/27/new-2012-baby-jogger-city-mini-gt-stroller-love-it/
City Mini Elite (still not a jogging stroller) https://www.babyjogger.com/city_elite_lp.aspx
Bumbleride Indie https://www.bumbleride.com/strollers/indie-home.php
I agree with PP. If you don't plan on using it off of pavement on a regular basis (ie. trails, beaches, other uneven terrain) then you should be fine with a regular stroller. Most of them can handle an occasional trip to the beach.
DH and I are thinking of going with the Bumbleride Indie since we do go to a lot of places that aren't paved or are badly paved. It's an all terrain that can be used for light jogging and only weighs 20 lbs.
