I'm starting my search for a pack-n-play - planning on using it for beside our bed with a newborn, and then traveling, camping, etc. Lots of trips to the granparents' houses in our future!
I know I'd use a bassinet feature in a playard, but is it worth paying a little more for the change table? Do you actually use it, or does it end up being easier to change LO somewhere else?
Also, what are your thoughts on vibrating bassinets? Useful, or unnecessary?
Thanks so much for the input!
Re: PNP with change table - necessary??
I only used it for a couple months when LO was born, we set it up in the living room i used it during the day because i was in there most of the day and it was hard to walk while recovering from my c-section. The majority of the time we just used the changing table in her room. By the way it was a real pain in the butt to put the changing table together for the pnp!! At least with the one we have: https://www.google.com/imgres?q=graco+pack+ny+emelia&hl=en&sa=X&biw=1440&bih=821&tbm=isch&prmd=imvns&tbnid=vbBUannlwUpQdM:&imgrefurl=https://www.deals2buy.com/deals/99916163&docid=kNPZYmuF8nzRSM&imgurl=https://e.deals2buycdn.com/i/o/d2b-99916163/main-orig.jpg&w=500&h=500&ei=71MUT9fsHq_YiQLzxazoDQ&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=1&sig=105714829898533428094&page=1&tbnh=126&tbnw=131&start=0&ndsp=31&ved=1t:429,r:1,s:0&tx=65&ty=72
HTH!
DS slept in our room for the first 4-5 months and I liked having the changer on the PNP. He peed a lot during diaper changes early on and it was really easy to just wipe up the waterproof changer. My back got sore easily those first few weeks so I could not have changed him on the floor and I would not have wanted to deal with him peeing on our bed every night. We have this PNP and the changer is very sturdy, no tipping.
If you have a low dresser in your room you could also just put a changing pad on top of that.

We had this one for DS. He was in our room until he was 4 months old. I would recommend the changer. It is much easier to clean up messes on the changer than other places, trust me I learned my lesson! Make sure you get one that has the pockets for storing items. It's nice to have everything you need in one place.

I never used the canopy or the vibration feature.
I used it for 4 or so months as our first floor changing station. I really wish instead I just bought a cheap second hand changing table with shelves or drawers to keep in corner on first floor instead. I would have loved having the storage for diapers, wipes, burp clothes, etc... I never used bassinet feature. And I barely used main compartment except the few times we traveled. I would put son in RNP sleeper during day in living room and up in crib for daytime naps after he was a few months old.
