Which do you prefer and why? The reviews I've read on Amazon for both products are pretty mixed. I love the idea of a steamer and processor all in one, but is it worth the $$ for one of these?

IMO if you already have a good food processor or blender it's a waste of money. I have a cuisinart food processor and a magic bullet which work great.
If you don't already have something, I wouldn't go with either of these and instead I would get the baby bullet by magic bullet. I have heard nothing but bad things about both of the systems you mentioned. I've heard great things about the baby bullet.
We received a Beaba for our baby shower and I am surprised how much I like it. I didn't register for it...my plan was to do what pp suggested (steam and then blend in a food processor), however the Beaba is nice to have since it's all in one. It's small so I keep it on the counter top and just throw whatever we are having that day into the basket, steam it up, then blend and voila! Instant baby food. It has been easy to clean and honestly I don't know if I would make as much baby food as I do since it's so convenient. Just my two cents!
I have a Babycook and really like it! I made all of DS's baby food and actually still use it to steam veggies or make applesauce. I got mine for $75 though. I don't know that I would have paid full price for it, but I'm glad I had it. FWIW, I don't have any problems at all with any black stuff in the water unit. I think it should be obvious, but you need to take the water lid off after the steaming is done so it can dry out. I store mine with it off and use the vinegar every 4 weeks or so and have no problems. I think my gasket has become a little leaky but mine has had a LOT of use.
I have the babycook and love it, still use it. I got it as a gift and probably wouldn't have paid that much myself. I have never heard of the Breeze but what about the Baby Bullet? I have heard good things about it and it is a lot cheaper.
If you're not a cook per say, then either of these would be fine if you wanted to splurge. Honestly, I think it's a waste and you're better off just getting a simple steamer insert for your pot if you don't already have one and purchase a basic 3 cup food processor instead. Kitchen Aid and Cuisinart are two great ones and are similarly priced, not to mention they come in several colors to compliment your kitchen if you want them displayed. You'll save money and you'll utilize these items for far longer than any other of the other "baby cookers" on the market.
