Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Am I the only one who finds it amusing?

Jessica Alba was on TV earlier and they were talking about how great her post-baby bod looks (agreed) and asked her what her secrets are (which we all know is a personal trainer and dietician, and that's fine..) and she says, "Chasing my 3 year old around!" Confused

Granted it's not the first celebrity that has said something like this, but really? Are you chasing your 3 year old around for 5 miles each day? Give me a break... That's not "exercise", that's life, and if that was the case then we would all have lean legs and a 6 pack by now... Silly goose.

Egggggsactly.. If they did then maybe some "normal" women wouldn't feel so discouraged when they can't lose the weight in just a few short months!

  • Some people just naturally lose the baby weight after they have a kid. My MIL loves to tell me that she only weighed 120 lbs when she waddled into the delivery room. She also has a picture of herself in a bikini with six-pack abs, and my DH is flailing around in a kiddie pool at the ripe old age of 6 months old in the background. Oh yeah, and she doesn't exercise and she eats like crap. (Well, not crap. But she only eats chicken--really--the only veggies she ever eats are on a salad and she only drinks 7up or strawberry daiquiris).

Makes me stabby, but what the heck can I do about it? Being mad at her (or Jessica Alba) doesn't excuse the fact that for ME to be healthy, I have to give a crap about what I eat and work out an hour a day.

Meh, I think I'd get tired of people asking.  And honestly if you're used to eating healthfully chasing toddlers around is a damn good way to not gain weight. My SIL has always been in shape, but the woman is tiny because she still eats her super-healthy diet, only now she never gets any down time.

Obviously it doesn't give you a 6-pack or developed calves.  But I do think that a lot of celebs are just used to maintaining their bodies and don't see it as that big of a deal.

I guess I just don't care how she got/maintains her post-baby body, nor do I care what she claims to have done.

I'm sure she is tired of it.... But just admit it, "Diet and exercise", I mean there's no magic way to do it! Don't try to put a cute spin on it to make it look like you didn't put in effort and the pounds just fell off with you playing with your kid, i just think it sounds ridiculous...

Looks like she has some conflicting interviews... read this one.. she mentions how her strict diet leaves her "starving"...

Also, I will be the first to admit I am responding very passionately to this and it's probably a dumb thing to feel that strongly about.

Also, I think I tend to like her (she always seems down to earth in interviews, I like her parenting style, and the fact that she seems to have a pretty low-key, non-AW life with her family) and I think people hate on her because she's pretty and has played some bimbo roles.

    So anyway.

It's okay to be passionate about it, doesn't bother me... I wasn't trying to make it look like I hate her or am "hating on her", she IS beautiful, i just saw the interview and it wasn't the first time I've heard someone say that... Kudos to you and your weight loss, I know that's hard work, so sorry if I rubbed you the wrong way with my post! We don't have to agree on the subject, it's not that bigga deal..

ETA: Unfortunately some people do hang on to every word celebrities say, and some women still think there is a miracle to losing weight..

It's funny you brought that up because after i talked about it with my friend she said that was goofy because she heard an interview where she talked about how hard it was! I'm glad we don't have that same kind of pressure on us to lose weight and look perfect, but i know it's not always as easy as they try to make it seem..

    I hope I'm still rocking a bikini at 40, she's awesome!
