Another post about movement... is it painful for anyone else?

I remember a few of you saying movement wasn't at all how you thought it would be, I'm just wondering if it was semi-painful for anyone. I'm pretty sure it's the baby moving around in there that I'm feeling, and when I'm laying down it feels neat, uncomfortable, but neat. But when I'm sitting up it kind of hurts. I don't feel anything on the outside yet, but it's pretty uncomfortable when it happens. I think it's too early for it to supposed to hurt yet, nto sure if it's unpleasant for anyone else or maybe I should ask my doctor about it at my next appointment. At my a/s the u/s tech said everything looked normal and healthy, so I don't think anything's wrong. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled he's moving around in there and that I can finally feel it. I just thought it would be more ticklish feeling like a lot of you describe. Thanks in advance. I'm sorry for whoever it was that had the u/o about hating movement posts.

  • Mine doesnt hurt at all but it is very possible that you may have gas. When the baby moves and hits your intestine with gas in it I can imagine it being painful. Try maybe taking a gas x before around the time you feel the baby and see if it helps. I remember when I was camping 2 weeks ago I was extremely bloated and every time the baby moved it was like a nightmare. Maybe you are having a similar issue.

  • It could be round ligament pain around this time.  It feels different for everyone and last week I was feeling sharp side pains whenever I stood up and a whole lot of pelvic pressure.  Last Tuesday my right side was pretty severe I almost called into work!

They told me to take a tylenol which I forgot I could take anything.  I took two total that week and it helped a bunch.

  • As PP's mentioned, I don't think it's the baby itself that's causing you pain at this point, rather the movement of the baby causing you RLP or gas. While baby is big enough to feel, it's not really cramped in there yet. Wait until 8-9 months when baby is using your ribs as monkey bars & your bladder as a trampoline- that hurts!

  • i had been feeling a very uncomfortable and slightly painful feeling under my belly button. i wasn't sure it was gas or baby until my a/s scan when i got to watch it happen live ;) it was her foot pushing out and it's pushing right next to my stretched out sensitive skin by the belly button.

i've also had some crazy round ligament pain under my belly which has sucked!!

  • I've been feeling a lot of pressure down low that can be quite uncomfortable...but I'll take it any day!

  • Some of the movements for me have been painful but I think it's because of gas. Every time I use the bathroom the trapped gas inside hurts SO bad!   So I think when the baby kicks and I'm full of gas it can hurt!

  • When he kicks some of my internal parts like my bladder, it is unpleasant.  Not really painful, but uncomfortable.  Also that isnt all of the time, just some of the times.  I might mention it to your doctor.

  • Are you constipated? It's a weird TMI question, I know, but maybe valid. I've only felt strong movements for the past two weeks, but anytime it's been the slightest bit uncomfortable, I've been constipated.

This afternoon LO thrashing around after lunch, and it was actually pretty painful. I've been really backed up this week and I took Senokot-S last night (which caused gas and cramping), so I think my bowels are just tender today.

I've had several friends tell me that 3rd tri movements can be especially painful, when the baby punches the rib cage and/or stomps on the diaphragm. Things to look forward to. :)

ETA: not that I think the pain is *just* constipation; I'm talking about when LO kicks intestines that are already tender from being overfull and gassy
