So, I just had this week's doctor appointment. She said I am dilated but my cervix isn't thinning. She wants to induce me this Sunday! She said I will go in Saturday night and sleep at the hospital. They will insert a suppository that will cause my cervix to thin, then Sunday they will induce my labor. I'm freaking out a little, but I'm excited at the same time. I'm just waiting to hear back from the doctors office to find out what time I need to go in and make sure they have me all set up with a room. Wish me luck!!

This was completly uncalled for. Everyone is different and has different reasons. If you dont have something nice to say then keep your comments to your self.
Good luck and I hope all turns out well.
And your replies have certainly evidenced your great genius.
I don't disagree with the idea that an induction (without more info) seems premature but being a nasty biatch isn't the most educated way to make your argument.

This. It's very exciting that you'll get to meet your little one but unless you or the baby are having issues I don't understand why the doctor is pushing the induction now. Your baby could still easily go into labor on it's own. And while the PP said it in an awful and hateful way, yes being induced early has a higher risk of c-section.
Wow, you are a pleasant person. As a matter of fact I have "educated" myself and done my research. My doctor's oppinion was that we should induce. I didn't ask for it. Since she is the professional, I will follow her advise. Just because you don't agree with something doesn't mean it's the wrong decision. And for your info, the reason for inducing is to avoid a c-section.
P.S. Screw You!
Bravo. If she wants to call anyone out blame the doctor whose years of experience and expertise she's relying on to make the right decision for her.
OP - I'll say it in a nicer way.
Unless there is a medical reason for inducing labor, I don't see why doctors would want to induce you. You may have a medical reason and that is completely justifiable.
Inductions sometimes fail because your body simply isn't ready. Even after Cervidil and Pitocin. That's why many end in a c-section.
DS was a failed induction turned c-section when I was induced at 39 weeks. I was induced because I had pre-e.
Please make sure that you understand the full in's and out's of elective induction before you go through with it.
Good luck!
I could think of several reasons why she might need induced. The omission of a reason doesn't mean there isn't one.
You should think before you post, because right now, you're totally rocking the old "assume" addage...

Good luck!
Personally, I'd never induce for any other reason than a medical necessity. Well, I guess I shouldn't say 'never' but it's pretty darn close to that. If you don't really want to induce, I'd talk to your doc about her reasons for wanting to induce you vs. giving LO some time to come on his/her own.
But again, your decision so good luck and I wish you the best!
Wow. Um a lot of people have successful inductions at her stage with no issues.
My sister was extremely sick (ultimate reason for her induction) and her progress (right at 39 weeks) was just about the same as yours. They ended up not needing her to go in the night before but she was only 2cm. From the time they started Pitocin, to baby in her arms, was only 4 hours.
No issues. No talk of a c-section.
Wow. Seriously?! Not cool.
Good luck! Don't let anyone make you feel guilty about it, you and your doctor know best about your situation and how to handle it.
I have 2 friends that were induced at 39w and neither resulted in a c-section. Every labor is different.
STFU. You suck. It's her baby, her choice. Why do I think I remember you from another post recently where you were completely douche like????
Oh. You are inducing to avoid a c-section. let me guess...the baby will end up too big!
Now she's a medical doctor and a psychic, fabulous! It's definately block time

I am sorry but I was thinking the same thing. How many times do you hear about a dr saying the baby will be to big so they need to be induced. I wouldn't have said it so harsly. Still was my first thought.
Congrats and good luck on a successful induction!

To the OP: Good luck, and I hope everything goes smoothly.
To everyone else, the aggravating responder is a troll, and posts in the other forums too. Just ignore and don't bother quoting, she'll just keep making stupid responses.
"In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion."
Sorry, copied from wiki, hence all the underlined words.
The only dipshit in this thread is you aruiz. Don't be such a troll.
The reason for you induction is truly none of our business...whether it's medically suggested or elective is irrelevant! It's so good to see that everyone is so "grown up" here and "supportive!!!!!!!!!!
My dr has said that 39 weeks is our goal and we'll start talking "what's next" then. Before PP starts calling me a "dipshit" I'll add that I have GD and there are so many things that can happen because of it....and even if I didn't have GD there are so many things that could be going on with you. I wish you the best of luck and crossing my fingers for you and baby. FYI...my older sister was induced at 36wks to the date, because of real bad Toxemia...induction went fine and baby was fine!!!
Explains why her profile is private... I had never seen this one before. Thanks for the heads up
Ill add her to my troll cheat sheet!
Because you did. There was definitely one recently on one of the boards where she pretended to be a devout Christian and proceeded in calling the OP on the thread a wh*re and said the OPs sins were going to be on the hands of the hospital where she delivered, etc. Later in thread she copped to being a troll and admitted she didn't even believe anything she was saying.
You have to admit it is kind of entertaining to poke a troll and watch them jump.
Ignore the troll - I hate people like that! Isn't it bad enough that we are all hormonal, sensitive, and nervous right now!?
Good luck on your induction! So exciting that you get to meet your LO this weekend!!
I personally have crippling nerve and sciatica pain and my due date is the 26th. My wonderful doctor has promised me not to let me go past the 28th, and I am so thankful!
Again, good luck!!!
Wait.... she wants to induce, WHY? I didn't see a reason in that post!
Dilating but not thinning means nothing. She should let you go to at least 41 weeks or longer unless she has a LEGIT medical concern. You may want to ask her about the increased risks with an induction (infection, c-section rates are both higher with induction), and what the risk of waiting another week for your body to deliver are (placental fatigue, which is rare and you can monitor for).
Personally, I think induction is the most difficult way to bring a baby into this world, because you're chemically forcing your body to do something it's not yet ready to do. BUT there are lots of success stories. I guess if I were you I would just get a second opinion before agreeing.
Good luck with your induction whatever the reason may be.
I was induced with #2 at 39 weeks 1 day and had a wonderful, smooth, easy 9 hour labor and delivery. I hope you have the same.
I was induced with DS1 at 38 weeks (medically necessary) and they used the cervadil and I did extremely well and guess what?? NO C-SECTION!!!!!
Don't listen to people who a) are assholes with nothing better to do with their time and b) who don't know anything about your medical history.
I am SO sick and tired of the reactions to some of these induction posts lately. Look I don't PERSONALLY believe in elective inductions and I would completely understand if you were a 34 weeker posting about induction but it seems like lately if someone who is 38-40 weeks posts about an induction without giving some long drawn out explanation why they get jumped on and "OMG...I can't believe you would do that"
Some people don't like sharing ALL their personal information with everyone and people need to understand that and let it go. I hope your induction goes smoothly and you get to meet your LO safely and soon!
Really scary to think you're gonna be someone's mother...
