I'm going to see my OB in a couple of weeks, this will be my first OB visit after seeing my fertility specialist for the last few months. We've already had a couple of ultrasounds and everything looks and sounds great.
When I set up the appointment today the nurse mentioned the testing that I could elect to do or not do and I don't even know anything about it. She said the doctor will discuss it with me in detail at the appointment and then I can decide to come back in to do it -- but I was just curious if most people do it or skip it?
I'm a first time Mom so all of this is really new to me
I appreciate your comments!
Re: all kinds of testing?
There's no right answer to this question. Some women choose to do all of the tests, or some of them, some don't do any of it. You have to decide yourself (and with the baby's father) what testing you want to do.
Your doctor might give you a piece of paper with the billing codes on it (if he/she doesn't - ask for one). Call your insurance company and ask which of the codes are covered. Once you know what tests are available to you through your insurance, you might have an easier time deciding what to do.
You mentioned you have a fertility specialist. If this pregnancy is high risk, you will probably be advised to do more of the tests than if it were not high risk.
Yeah it's not high risk so I don't think anything will be required. Thanks for the info on the billing codes though - having to pay out of pocket for something could definately influence the decision.
I really appreciate your response. I'll definately talk to the hubby and see what he's feeling about this. I think I'm leaning towards not doing them - but we will see.
