This is going to be hard for me now. I want to vote NYC- cause then I can see my Dad and sister and of course stay at his house for free. But flights to NY are expensive. On the other hand, even though flight to Nashville (for example) may be cheaper, I still have to pay for a hotel room. Decisions decisions

I just keep thinking about how expensive everything is in NY - hotel, food, taxi, etc. While it might be less expensive to fly into NYC, everything else will be so much more expensive. I voted for Texas (because I want to go to Austin), but Nashville would be super fun too!
PS - I act like I'm going. I still have no idea if I'm going - it all depends on when it is and how things are going here.
(come to Boston - I will show everyone the inexpensive places just outside of the city to stay) teehee
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.

Exactly. But there is the subway (although i admit I'm not too comfortable on them since I have no clue how to navigate them) instead of the taxi.
BTW- Asheville is an East Coast city .

Ditto on how expensive NYC is (and difficult to get around with LOs/parking/etc.). Plus, it was on the East Coast last year and due to just general population density (particularly this board) it could always end up on the east coast (not a criticism of the voting choices, though, Dana!). Oh well! I'll try and go wherever wins, just my two cents.
Can I just be blunt and say that I will be totally bummed if NYC wins? I just can't travel that far with my kids right now, and I was really counting on the get together FINALLY being in a southern city.

Me too.
Me three (although I will go anyways and it's probably easier for me to go to NYC, but I'll be bummed because I would SO rather go one of the other two locations). There is always the option of doing 2 locations, we've tossed it around other years (and I think there was a small NYC GTG the year of the Chicago one for just this reason, wasn't there)?

You are exactly right. There was a small NYC GTG in 2010. I know cause I went. So I really do think that the GTG should be more south. Besides I've seen NYC a million times, I want to go someplace new.

Well, I waited too long to post in the other thread... Anyway, here's my two cents.
We've been saying for a long time that we'd do one in the south (and both of the top vote getters -- TX and Nashville -- kind of fit that description), so I think it should be one of these top two. Last year was east coast. There will always be a lot of support for east coast cities just because of population density. Taking the previous top two vote getters seems reasonable from all angles, IMO.
There was even a mini-gtg in NYC last year in addition to the big DC gtg. I'm sorry, but I don't think it's reasonable to have it on the east coast.
ETA: Okay, reading posts above mine, I guess the NYC gtg was the year before last. Anyway... It's still true that everyone agreed it would be in the south this year. Let's be fair, ladies! (And hello, I'm not even in the south! Though admittedly, I do have family there.)

I completely agree with this. East coast always wins. Oh well.
Don't give up hope southerners - Nashville is now tied. Inle can be the tie breaker since she can't change her vote officially.

oh geez, the pressure! If a math whiz can recalculate percentages after all the votes are in, by switching one NYC vote to Nashville, that would be super. I think it would be a fun city to visit.

LOL when I was in Boston last month DH had on Yankees shirt, I had on Giants one, and Brady had Giants on too! We didn't do on it purpose but in the waiting room at Children's some guy kept giving us dirty looks and he finally said something about being bold wearing that "crap" in the Patriots/Red Sox area!

The city that gets the most votes between Nashville and Texas should have a GTG regardless of whether NYC/East Coast gets a tonne of votes. If there are like 20 people who want to get together in a southern city...then I think it should happen!
I have no idea whether I will be able to go or not this year...probably not...we need a new roof:( Time to start buying lottery tickets?
I'm just going to throw this out there since I helped plan the Vegas GTG and the Chicago one. There are only a handful of people that will really end up biting the bullet and going. You've gotta just pick a place and go with it. You can't make everyone happy and someone that is actually going to go needs to plan it. I will not be coming this year but I can't wait to hear all about it! Let me know if you need help with planning something like this and I can give you some pointers. No one that was real active in the GTG planning lived anywhere near Vegas but that was an easy one. (4 attended the GTG after 30+ joined the FB group to go -2 more locals joined in)
Married 8.13.2005, M/C 12/8/06- 5 weeks, M/C 2/27/07- 7 weeks, M/C w/ D&C 8/10/09-6.5 weeks *Charles Lawrence born 5/2/08 @ 3:14am, 7lb 8oz, 20.5 inches. Clomid, Crinone and baby aspirin. *Alexandra Claire born 9/14/10 @ 9:52am 6lb 14oz, 20.5 inches. Femara, Crinone and baby aspirin.
I agree with skimmy - not everyone is going to be happy. I am only voting east coast because the only place I can afford is the place where I live - so even if east coast wins there is no garuntee I could go. But I would be happy to help plan if Boston does make it to the top.
Anyhoo - just because one place wins over another, doesn't mean a seperate more local gtg can't be planned for the "losing" city/state

Our Journey from two to three!
3 IUI's, 2 IVF's, decided to move to foster/adopt.
12/24/2009 Baby C born, 2/1/2010 placed with us,
5/17/2011 Adoption final- we are finally a forever family!
If no one else agrees with me, I completely understand, but does anyone else feel like we should really do a vote of the final two? I feel like a third option might be splitting the vote a bit -- I always feel like any final decision should be made with just the final two options. But, that is just me -- I will go along with what everyone else thinks.

I'm bored at work and keep refreshing to see how the voting is going. Now I'm going to see how far a drive it is from SC to Nashville.
flying from my airport in VA to Nashville is around $335 right now on Delta.
I forgot - what dates were we talking about? June-ish?
