Carseat help - Need advice

My 3 year old is outgrowing the Britax Roundabout and my 8 month old is outgrowing his infant seat.  What 5 point harness seat should I get for my 3 year old?  Britax Frontier? Graco Nautalis? I am going to put my 8 month RF in the roundabout until we can get new seats for him, I know he will not be able to RF long enough due to his height. What seats do you like?

  • The Frontier is a great seat for the 3 year old.  For the 8 month old, once he outgrows the Roundabout RFing, consider the First Years True Fit.  We got it when DS was 13 months old when he outgrew RF in his Roundabout and it kept him RF for more than a year after that.  He's still using it FF at 3.5 and still has room to grow.  We replaced his other outgrown seat with a Frontier and really like it.

  • When DD2 outgrew the infant seat, we got a Frontier for DD1 and switched DD2 to our Marathon. We considered the Nautilus but ultimately decided on the Frontier and have been happy with it, as well as the Marathon.

DD1 was RFing in the Marathon until she was 3+ years old and 37 inches; DD2 was 34 inches at 18 months and is still comfortable RFing.

  • I'm not sure about your older kiddo but we love our TrueFits. It's a great fit for extended rear-facing with taller kids. I believe it has one of the tallest shells on the market. Our boys were comfortably RFing in it until six weeks before they turned 3 (and truthfully they hadn't hit the limits yet but I have neck and shoulder issues and was having a hard time lifting two heavy kids in and out of RFing seats all the time). They have tons of room to grow FFing too. I'm hoping these seats will last us till they're 5-6.

  • We just got a Recaro ProSport for our DD, and so far we love it. It goes from a 5 point harness, to a high back booster, and then to a backless booster.
