Car seat for small car?

We have a graco car seat stroller combo that fits in my car, but since I am going back to work and my husband will be home those days with LO, we need a car seat that will fit in his vehicle. My husband drives a mustang and the passagner seat does not go up enough to allow enough room, so the seat cannot lock in place.

We obviously cannot buy a new car, so we need to find a car seat that will fit. Any ladies have any tips? We are just looking for the carseat, not a combo.

Why not just switch vehicles on those days you work and he's at home?  Problem solved :)

  • I will have to do this. The only other tip that I was told was to use it without the base, but I am not comfortable with that.

This is actually a really good tip. It's the car seat that keeps LO safe, not the base. The base is more for parent convenience as opposed to safety (plus it's another thing for car seat companies to sell). There should be instructions and diagrams in your seat's manual on how to secure the seat without the base. I've done it with DD's seat in a friend's small car and the seat did not budge. Plus it was surprisingly easy to do.

I would second this.  Our car seat is very simple to install using a seatbelt and we do that in DH's car instead of buying a second base.  It is locked in and secure.  Just make sure to follow the user manual instructions on how to do it properly.

We have a small 2 door car and the chicco keyfit30 fits well, I saw it was good for small cars. Some babystores let you try it to make sure, we did that to make sure a stroller fit in the trunk. We just had to leave our drivers lic. at the customer service desk.  Good luck
