Running Shoes....NBR

Anyone rec their running shoes? I am newer to the gym and need a running shoe that is supportive but not too heavy. I'm trying to stay under 80 bucks. Anyone love their shoe?

Re: Running Shoes....NBR

  • If you have a Runner's Roost or a Boulder Running Company(really most specialty running stores) nearby they will analyze your running style and suggest shoes for you at no cost.

I always use Asics.  They have ones at different price points- I have the Kayano 16s and they are great. I think I paid $119 for them, but I bet you can get some online for cheaper.

I have plantar fasciitis and shin splints- these have been great.

  • I wear Asics and always have - love 'em!  I've also heard Brooks and Mizzuno are good for runners as well.  Try checking your running type at roadrunnersports.com.  Also, if you are new to running, try looking up videos of pronation on youtube.  This will give you some idea of what type of runner you are.

  • These are my new ones (though I fully admit that I bought them more because they made me smile then anything else!)!

  • I have Brooks, and I LOVE them.  However, I agree with PP.  Go in and be fitted for a shoe.  Have them watch you run in them.  I have a tendency to roll my feet out when I run, so they fitted me with a shoe that keeps me from doing that (I don't want to kill myself!).

If you just use any old running shoe, and are serious about running, invest in some good shoes.  I killed my knee in a half-marathon with the crappy shoes I used to have.

  • I am now a convert to the "barefoot" running. I switched over to the New Balance Minimus (I also have some VFFs) and will never have a bulky shoe with lots of support. I have been fitted before but the shoes still gave me shin splints and just hurt my arches.

Since switching over, my feet do not hurt. I love them
