Cheap diapers/wipes? (Repost from 0-3 board)

I havent really purchased diapers & wipes yet since I got so much from my shower. I still have a bunch but want to stock up a little more, I know a ton of people figure out the cost of each diaper/wipe so what do you guys consider a good price for each? I saw some wipes on sale this week which will come out to 2 cents a wipe is that average or is it usually higher? & what about diapers..I saw another sale this week which they came out to 23 cents a diaper..can someone please tell me what is considered good?=] I obviously don't want to get ripped off..TIA!

  • I have no idea what our diapers and wipes come out to per item. We use Up&Up diapers (from Target). They are around $13 for over 100. We use Huggies wipes. They are $12 for 600 or 800, I forget. We've found this combination to be the most economical while still having good quality.

  • Target brand (up&up) diapers and wipes all the way! So inexpensive and pretty decent!

  • I don't know about cost per item (still using up my own shower stash) but I do know that Parent's Choice (Wal-Mart brand) suck.  We had leaks like crazy!

  • Thanks ladies, I already know which brands my son likes (pampers & huggies wipes). I was really hoping to find out what a good price is for each diaper/wipe. Theres so many different box sizes its hard to tell which is the best deal thats why I figured if I break it down by how much each cost it'll give me the best purchase!

  • Yep, it helps to figure out cost per diaper to know if you're getting a good deal, but a lot of it depends on what kind of brands you prefer.  Some brands like pampers will be at a premium.  Also, the numbers of diapers in a container drop as the sizes go up, so cost per diaper rises.  Then there's sales tax, online promotions for new customers, and sometimes gift card offers at BRU to consider.

Amazon.com and diapers.com usually have a lot of choices and will break down the price per item for you.  Also it seems like diaper costs have gone up recently.

We like pampers swaddlers, so in my experience for sizes N, 1 and 2, 16 cents/diaper or less is a great deal and 10-14 cents/diaper is an amazing deal for pampers.  My last order ended up ~ 18 c/diaper.  I've ordered from Amazon.com and signed up for subscribe and save and Amazon mom to get the best prices.

I've been buying wipes at around 1.7 cents/wipe from Costco with a coupon (Huggies pure natural).   The regular price for their Kirkland brand wipes ends up around 2.2 c/wipe

Can you tell that I'm a stickler for getting the best deal?  :)

  • We get the Target sensitive wipes in a big pack - 13.69 for 720 wipes, 2 cents/wipe. I also like the Target wipes because their refill-type packs come with a hard plastic flip-top in case you ever need to take them traveling or something. I order diapers on Amazon mom which as other people have said breaks down the cost per diaper for you. I've been getting Huggies little snugglers for 17 cents/diaper with Amazon mom, subscribe and save, and Amazon's online coupons.

  • I do the Subscribe and Save on Huggies with Amazon. I get over 300 wipes and pay $7.

  • I don't know what ours cost now per diaper and per wipe, but I did all this research before I had him and asked around on which diapers people preferred.  We use Target wipes (cheap and I really like them) and the Luvs.

We have had no problems with Luvs.  We did have leaks with some of the other diapers.  We also had a HUGE stock-pile of diapers from other people and ones we stocked up on--everything from Huggies, Luvs, Pampers, etc.  I would recommend NOT having too big of a stockpile though until you figure out 1) what size your baby will be and what shape because diapers fit every baby differently and 2) what brand works best for your baby.
