Even though the doctor says baby looks great and he's not worried (although I am rh-sensitized), my current schedule is to see him every 2 weeks for regular appointments + ultrasounds, to have blood tests also run every 2 weeks (they took 14 vialsyesterday), and to go to the midwife's office for NST/contraction monitoring twice every week. (next week I have 2 final birth prep classes on top of the rest too!)
I'm happy he's being extra-cautious and know we're better safe than sorry, but I'm just curious if anyone else feels like they might as well bring their sleeping bag and move into the doctor's office/lab/midwife center for the next month?!?!
How frequently are you seeing your doc and/or midwife for visits and other regularly scheduled tests/check-ups these days?
Re: Frequency of doctor's visits? Feeling like a 'watched pot'...
I am right there with you...
For the past 3 weeks I've gone to the doctors twice/three times a week and even had appts at the hospital. Although, my blood pressure keeps going up and down so they are watching that close. I also had my platelets drop but they are back to an ok range... So...
Every Tuesday/Friday I get NST scans, Every Friday I get U/S after the NST scans- then I visit with the doctor after... And I'm getting blood work every two weeks...
They keep telling me at each appt I am close to being pulled out of work but I am trying to hold on so I can use FMLA and have extra time with the baby
!! I know in the end our health is most important though..
I don't mind the appts since I know it's all for good reasoning.
Wow. That is a lot
I'm just going in for my normal weekly checks now. There was talk of one more u/s but that's been tabled (thankfully).
love is for every her, love is for every him, love is for everyone
After 2 1/2 years TTC, 3 IUI's, endo, and a lap, a surprise BFP brought us Alexandra Marie!
Yep! I'm really happy that the Dr. takes even a potential problem this seriously, but it does make me laugh every time I go to the midwife for the NST and LO goes to town like he's in a kickboxing class. The midwives kept moving me around today trying to get him to settle down, saying that he was too active. Obviously they know the tests are the doctor's idea, not mine, but I hope they don't feel like I'm wasting their time!
I'm also happy that I'm not alone in the frequent visits...
I have two appointments every week. I had previous miscarriages and a baby that died after birth due to Hydrops. I see my OB and have an U/S weekly along with weekly NSTs at the hospital. I have an all day childbrith class in a couple of weeks too! Baby is doing great, but we can never be too cautious!
I would be losing my mind going as often as you are, or other PPs!
I have my next appointment two days shy of 38 weeks, two weeks from my last appointment. I'll go weekly after that (what, max two appointments?)
Hang in there!!
I'm going 3x a week now, 1 x to regular OB and 2x for NSTs. I mean, if they want to monitor the baby like crazy that's fine with me. but making up the time at work is getting to be a big PIA.
This! In my case, I'm high risk, so I've been going almost wkly for a good while now and each time I either get an u/s, blood work, or an internal at my visits. It's a pain, but it's also been very reassuring at the same time too. I also like the fact that I get to see LO regularly and have tons of pics of her progression.
